View Full Version : sodium and hi cal diet

since we eat more while bulking, is there anything dangerous about sodium intake since we eat more food? few foods have potassium and a lot of meat products have sodium (or tastes better w/ it :) ). is there something that can be done to lessen the adverse affects of sodium (like blood pressure) esp while eating more?

balance it out with potassium, and drink water.

also magnesium supplementation (NOT cal/mag) will help with the bp thing.....

it's a natural calcium channel blocker. (which is basically what BP meds are, except, not natural, if that makes any sense)

well avatar......to treat high BP, doctors use a class of meds called Calcium Channel Blockers. Basically what they do is block calcium ions from getting into the Calcium channels, thus lowering blood pressure.

Magnesium does this naturally, since it's calcium's opposing electrolyte. If you took a cal/mag, you would kind of be defeating the purpose of getting magnesium up to par with calcium levels, you know what I mean? as it is, with our diets, especially the bulking dairy-rich kind, you are getting adequate calcium to begin with, but poor little magnesium gets forgotten about (best sources are hard water, and plants grown in mineral rich soil - neither of which we have in this day and age)
