hate to beat an old horse...but what's a safe amount of protein to consume daily and from what sources? I've been consuming about 20-30 grams below my bodyweight. Or, about 170 grams a day

I usually have one protein shake a day (whey/20grams). But I've bumped this up to two a day.

shoot for at least 1g of protein per pound of bodyweight.

too much protein doesnt magically get turned into fat. eating too many calories is what gets stored as fat.


if you eat a lot of protein (more then 1g per pound of body weight), the excess protein can just as easily be used as energy if you are in a calorie deficeit.

The conversion of protein to fat is not an effecient process in the body.

It does take more effort to convert protein into fat, but if you're consuming too many calories it will happen.

Too much protein is an expensive way of having excess carbs in the body. Excess carbs in the body results in fat storage.

If you bulking it's better the have too much than too little.
