Just wanted to introduce myself and say that I really enjoy reading most of the threads on this forum. I've noticed very few flames if any and it seems like a nice place to hang out.

As for me, I've been in the Bodybuilding/Powerlifting game going on 9 years, 7 months and 1 day. Yup, I'm that retentive.
I have about nine years worth of training books that I've kept track of every rep, set, weight and exercise and will probably continue to do so. Right now I'm 5'6 and 200lbs with 7% bodyfat. I've been as high as 235 but didn't feel very good at that weight. I've been clean now for about 4 years and at this point, although it could change, I don't have any plans of going back to drugs.

I'm also a HUGE Pontiac fan and have four older muscle cars, two of which I drag race. For those interested in cars here's what I have. 1969 Firebird (462ci) 1968 Firebird (406ci) 1979 TransAm W-72 4speed/400 1979 TransAm with a Turbocharged 462ci Pontiac motor. My biggest claim to fame at this point with cars is my recent exposure in High Performance Pontiac. They did a five page layout on my 79 TurboTA (Thus my Turboboy screen name). It's page 62 in the Sept issue for anyone who might subscribe or buy this magazine. I thought I had seen some mention of cars here so that's why I'm mentioning it. Anyway, hope to make some friends here and get in on some good discussions. I have a pretty broad knowledge base so I'm hoping to be of some help to anyone who wants or needs it!! I'm also willing to learn some new tricks! Take care,
Brad

Oh if anyone is interested, I'll post some pics of my rides! lol!

Welcome aboard. I am also kind of a muscle car freak. You have any pictures of yorusef that you would like to share in the Members area? I am sure that you must behuge to be 5'6 and 200 pounds.

I'll get some pics up shortly. Probably the best thing about being short is that you look pretty big if you weigh 200 or more. lol

I'm also a big fan of muscle-cars!
right now I got an El camino 77. It looks nice but got pretty poor performance.... so im planning to buy a chevelle or something like that, probably a bit older... like 67-71...!
well anyway, post some pictures of your cars!

I hope you got your CB-radio installed in that trans-am of yours!

Your arms must have gotten big from handling the horsepower.

I'm in australia an am currently building up a VL Commodore Turbo, . It's basically a poor man's Skyline. 3.0L Nissan 6 cylinders inline with fairly hi tech EMS and capable of about 250hp with simple mods like boost and exhaust. Still some have ran low 9's down the 1/4 mile with alot more $$$ spent on them. I've got the commodore, currently NA but today I bought my first turbo and manifold with computer and everything I am so excited. Ive got the low comp pistons and everything ready to go. I just need a good gearbox. My old 4 speed auto will melt with this much power. Ooohh I love it. It's gonna take months to build the motor and get the driveline installed properly on my student budget but man it's worth it. Horsepower and weights are a good combination for hobbies man. Turboboy i back you all the way.

I have seen 186ci Turbocharged sixes run low 9s down the 1/4 here in australia.

I would love to see what your 462 Turbo can do!!!! FAR OUT!!!

WestyHeadbanger,
You are right about the turbo stuff. There nothing like forced induction to put a grin on your face! My TA is not that fast. It runs 11's with 7PSI. Unfortunately, the 455's bottom end is factory stock meaning cast crank and rods. I do have forged pistons but the weak link is the cast rods and rod bolts. That is the reason for the low boost pressure. I certainly wish I could crank up the boost to around 15-20 but I would most definately grenade the engine on the first pass. At this point I'm satisfied with where I'm at. Sounds like you have an interesting project going! Just take your time and whatever you do, make sure you have a way of controlling the boost pressure before you go out making full throttle passes. Also, make sure your fuel requirements; pressure and volume, are up to par. I'm sure you already know this but I've just seen too many guys crank up the boost without thinking about the additional fuel needed and basically junk an otherwise good engine.

I also agree that horsepower and lifting go together! I have a squat rack in the garage and I'll usually do a set of squats, tinker on the cars and then do another set. After about an hour or so, I've accomplished more than if I did them separately. Oh, what Turbocharger did you get?

Thanks for the words of caution. The turbo I bought is a Garret T03, they came out stock on the turbo model of my car. I am basically bringing the NA version of the motor up to turbo spec and then extending its range a little, but not much. It wont be hell fast, when its all built id be happy to post a high 13/low14, it's a street vehicle and a daily driver too!!!!

11s on 7 pound!!! man that must be fun to pilot that thing down the 1/4!!!

I know you probably like your V8s but you should check out some of the jap technology getting around.
The drag versions of my car that have ran 9's there is about 4 or 5 of them in Sydney and I know one at least that has a standard bottom end!!!! Apparently the nissan Rb30 internals are capable of over 800hp!!!
Of course like your motor that is with the addition of low compression forged pistons. Over here it is cheaper to work low cubes high tech than high cubes low tech if you get my drift so there are 2.0L turbocharged Japanese cars and rotaries getting round on the streets that are capable of anywhere between low 8's to low 14s.

My car stock ran a 15.9. So i just had to get some technology and a turbocharger. 13s here I come. I just need a good box now.

Ah yes, the old T03 Garrett. Those are great turbos. I have done quite a bit of research on the import engines and you are right, they will handle a tremendous amount of power in the stock bottom end. I can see the reason a lot of folks go that route. I cannot do that though! lol! I'll probably stick to old muscle cars but I still have much respect for anyone who has a fast car whether it's an American or Import. I also drive a 5.0 Mustang daily and have toyed with the idea of twin t03's. Those 302 bottom ends I believe can handle upwards of 600HP. I might do that in the future. Definately keep me posted on your progress!

Yeah, I know it does suck. I would gladly give you the tour and a ride otherwise! :) I am quite fond of them.

Twin t03s on the 5.0 mustang is an excellent idea. Run a large front mount intercooler and programmable injection and you'd be away. Obviously the idea with turbo exhausts is to have as close to 0 backpressure in the exhaust. Backpressure is the friend of torque in the NA car but not of turbocharged cars. Twin 2.5 inch mandrel bent pipes would probably be perfect for the job.
