Just curious how you come up with your maintanence/cutting calories?

I'm a 5'11, 195-200lb male with about 18% BF (according to those digital scales that estimate BF %).

I sit at a desk all day, but am fairly active after work....hit the gym 2-3 nights a week doing weights and cardio and I hit the golf range or golf course most every day.

Just curious what you think my maintanence/cutting calories should be or how can I figure it out myself.

Thanks so much.

try tracking your calories for a few weeks at www.fitday.com, and if you find that you are gaining, losing, or staying the same weight each week, then adjust your calories until you are gaining/losing the amount of weight each week that you'd like.

Thanks.

Is there any way to get a quicker "rough" estimate to use as a starting point.

Or is the old adage of 2000 cal/day a good starting point?

well for a very quick VERY ROUGH estimate, you can try your body weight x 15 for your maintenance calories. but it wouldnt be optimal.
