View Full Version : Has anyone successfully cut without doing cardio?

I'm interested in doing a cutting program which only involves a strict diet and weight training program. Say a 6 days a week weight training programme coupled with a good diet.......will this do the trick? I really dont want to cardio as it has become irritating as hell......Has anyone does this? And if yes, how did you go abt it?

although ive never done it, it is very possible.

calorie deficiet(sp?) at the end of the day is what will cause you to lose weight. so just eat a bit less then you would if you were doing cardio.

You don't need cardio with a good diet.

I'm attempting it, although as low as I'm wanting to go I might have to do some cardio. I believe BigChaseyChase has done it.

As much as I hate cardio. I do it because it help make my muscles harder I thinkit has something to do with oxygen, but dont' quote me I might be wrong. But you could cut without cardio most definitly

Im doing it, so far i have just begun my 12 week of dieting and ive gone from 217lbs @ 6ft1 down to 198lbs, total loss 19lbs.

Im nearly where i want to be right now and i have only done one cardio session and that was in the first week. Im willing to wager that 99% of the weight loss has been fat, many at my gym has backed up this notion.

Diet and weights are all you need, although i have been sprinting 2-3 times per week for my sport, but sprinting is certainly not cardio :)

I remember an article posted here, actually a couple times, that theorized how cardiovascular activity, has a greater propensity to target subcutaneous fat stores versus no cardio and just dieting. If you do a search on "subcutaneous fat" you may be able to dig it up. None of us were able to disprove the theory anyway, and I find that without cardio it's a whole helluva lot harder to accomplish what I need to.

ElP, Elzi mentioned exactly that fact on Avant once. (I was very sad....that's why I remember it. :()

I'll dig around and see if I can find it.

Cardio is the devil.

I've done it, on a TKD

There are a number of other good reasons to do some cardio, though, and I do think it is part of a well rounded routine, regardless of your goals.
