View Full Version : Updated pics after cutting bf in half

Well, as of the beginning of April, I was 227 lbs at somewhere between 15-18% bodyfat (estimate). I was tested a few weeks ago at 9.8%.


My arms have gone down 3/4", chest down 2", legs down 3", waist down 4".

I'm now weighing in between 196-200 (it's been fluctuating daily).

Here's a few photos to show where I'm at now.

Thanks for the compliments guys.

As far as my lifts - well of course they've gone down because of the large weight loss, but I'm still pretty strong.

I benched for the first time last week and put up 315x10 reps still which is down 50 lbs from where it was, but I suppose it's still decent. Deadlift today I did 505x4. Probably could have done 1 or 2 more, but my back was killing me.

Most importantly, I've been trying to get away from powerlifing lately and focusin less on weight moved and more on form and feeling the muscles. I plan on doing a major bulk starting around September.

Chase, you should have seen the width I had at 230. I've lost 3 inches around my chest mesurement since then. I need a 20 inch differential between chest and waist..... then I will be somewhat satisfied!

Diet:
meal 1:
6 egg whites, 1 cup oatmeal
meal 2:
salad with 1 chicken breast
meal 3(post workout):
12 prunes, 2 scoops protein shake
meal 4:
1 cup brown rice, chicken breast
meal 5 & 6:
some sort of meat or protein drink

Monday through Friday I do some light cardio for 30-40 mins upon waking up. Then I consume meals 1 and 2 (3 hours apart), then head to the gym for my workout which is:
Monday-back
tuesday-chest
wed- legs
thurs- shoulders
fri- arms


And yes, I CAN FLY.

You look great but I don't think that you're 9.8%. You look like you're at least 11-12%.

Maki- the bf% was from a 9 pinch caliper test. They're not the most accurate thing, but o well. All of my pinches were very low except right in the midsection. The guy that tested me said almost all of my fat is right in my midsection.

Xforce, just optimum nutrition whey protein and occasionally some ALA when I'm not too lazy.

lol @ bam bam. actually, the baby oil serves a purpose. I put it on to help keep my skin from peeling since I'm naturally very white and have been out in the sun A LOT and getting rather tan. If I dont keep my skin moist, it'll all flake off.

Given that the most accurate methods of bodyfat testing are still +/- 1-3%, how is it that your naked eye can distinguish differences as little as 1.2% with just a few shots posted on the internet? :confused:

Thanks for the backup and compliment ElPietro. I really dont care too much as to what my actual percent is, just so long as I look good. Lately I've had more people tell me I look huge than ever even though measurement wise I'm much smaller. The newly discovered cuts I have definitely give the illusion of me being pretty big.

Yeah, that happened to me too when I cut a bit. Some girls at the office asked if I was bulking up, so my first reaction was anger, then depression, then realization, then happiness. :)

ElP-I feel healthy at this weight and I've kept alot of my strength too, so I'm satisfied for now.

Rules - I live near youngstown(northeast ohio)- its about an hour from cleveland. My buddy goes to University of Dayton, so I'm down your way on occasion.

And I'm 5'7, 197 lbs, 21 years old.

They're decent. Too small, but kinda cut. And yes, my right one is much better than my left.... all goes back to having crooked hips and one leg a bit longer than the other.

I know what you mean man I have the same problem about the hips. But overall man not too shabby. So you never took a PH before? or something to help ya cut?

didnt take anything to cut except hydroxycut. Hydroxycut gives me plenty of energy to do my cardio in the mornings.

If only I could quite drinking so much alcohol I'd be fine! lol

I've got a few more shots I just took of my calves with my good digicam, I'll upload them in a minute.

I thought running in the morning was bad for you. I run at nights, well that and the fact that I cant get up early in the mornings. Seriously, isnt running after you eat good for you?

I've always been told that going on an empty stomach first in the morning was best for burning fat. That, plus I don't really run. I do a fast walk and a slow jog alternation, or else I ride my bike at a decent pace.

I'll have the new calf pics up after they transfer over(probably 10 mins or so), my card reader is being stupid.

Yea, my calves were 16.5" but now that I've cut down, they're just a hair over 15" which is pathetic!

Have you done any chiro or had medical treatment for your hips? My hips are also imbalance and I've found it can seriously give me some pain during squats if I'm not careful.

chiropractors arent covered on my insurance, so I have not see one. I did, however, have a therapist at the gym straighten it out a few times. He gave me exercises to do and told me to stop squatting,deadlifting, etc.... but i just refuse.

It doesn't hurt that bad (all the time).

*** Note the words, "I don't think" and " you look" I used when I gave my opinion El. My naked eye saw what in my experience looks to be more then 9.8 percent.

Hope that didn't confuse you too much.

Big-Ron, I'm going to cut until the end of August, then when school starts and I get on my routine, I'm going to bulk bulk bulk and get HUUUUUUUUGE. Well, that's the plan at least.

Gavan, thanks for the compliments. I've been lifting weights since I was 15 (for high school football initially). I've always just lifted to be kinda big and really strong. Only this past year have I cared what I looked like and started to focus more on bodybuilding rather than powerlifting, although I tend to do a mixture of the two.

wow, you look deadly bro'! great job on the cut! Everyone is always scared of losing size when they cut, you are proof that the loss of an inch or two your chest and arms is relative.

Thanks Ken. I really didn't care too much about losing size because I wasn't satisfied with how I looked. I was definitely big, but just didn't look very good without a shirt on and since it was summer, that was not tolerable. Needless to say, I feel much better physically and mentally about my new look.

I don't really have before pics just because I was embarassed at how I looked. I only have a few from when I first started to cut. They're low quality and don't show much other than my upper body... but here they are.

You can see how fat my face was, and how little definition I have on my upper body. These pics were from when I weighed 225.

yeah, I know what you mean about the full face and no real definition on the upper body. I am cutting and I like the leaner look in my face and the cut feeling. If I had to pick between bulking or cutting on how I LOOK, I would pick cutting. BUT, if I had to pick based on how I FELT during a workout, I would pick bulking cause I like hitting big weights.

I'm still putting up weights bigger than most people in my gym could even dream about even though I've cut way down in body weight. I do find that I have very little energy compared to when I'm bigger and eating alot.

September starts big season...

I was huge.... and fat. I had no definition anywhere and could hardly move. Putting my socks and shoes on was a 10 minute strenuous task!

I'll be in growing season soon enough though.
