Well, a week and a half ago, i was camping at some river. i decided i was gonna go fishing and after a while of fishing, i started heading back to my camp site. well, as i had a fishing rod in one hand and the tackle box in the other. I got to a part where i had to jump from rock to rock and with my wet sandals, i slipped. I landed on my right shoulder hard. Since then i've had a pain that goes something like this...it feels like my right trap is pulled strained or something. it feels like there's a 50lb db on it the whole time. also, at the top of my shoulder where the collar bone ends (that little bump on your shoulder area) is hurting and finally my shoulder muscles burn. I went to the doctor and he took an x-ray which came up negative. He told me to wait a couple weeks and see if it gets better and if not, he's gonna send me to a specialist. I've had my arm in a sling since last monday. My question to all you is, what do you think the severity of the injury is? when i reach across my chest or move my arm in certain ways, i get a pinching pain in my shoulder. could there be any ligament damage? the pain hasn't decreased really, maybe a little. Do you doctors here think an mri is in order? my doctor told me he would send me to an orthopedic, can he do anything if it's a muscle or ligament damage? Please help me out. I'm in some pain. thanks guys

damn, that is bad luck, i will bump this for the doctors on the board...but it does sound like a dr. visit is in order....probably hook you up with some pain pills and tell ya to ice it...

when i did go to the doctor a couple days after it happened, i was told to put a heat pad on it. also, the only thing he's given me is ibuprofen. my doctor is my uncle and he doesn't gimme anything that'll actually take the pain away.

i think it's a little too early to ask questions, to be honest.

give it a couple of weeks to heal up, and then you'll be in a better position to figure out if it's long term damage or not.

(not a doctor, btw)

thanks tryska, it's just that it's almost been a two weeks and the pain is a little better, but not all that much. the main problem i have is that i when i try and sleep i always end up turning over on it and the pain wakes me up.
