my uncle was found to have hemochromatosis, which in a nutshell is too much iron in the blood. I got tested thinking for sure I"ve probably got it also since its genetic most of the time....well turns out I'm borderline low, I'm at the very edge of normal, the doctor wants me to be tested again in 6 months to a year to make sure I dont drop off....

needless to say I'm going to boost up my iron

I always seemed to be low on energy/lazy, you think this might have played a role??

I take a multi vit but from what I've read you can only absorb so much at one time and acidic beverage is a plus when taking iron

One of the symptoms associated with anemia is low energy levels, so you could be experiencing some lethargy from your low levels of iron.

"Signs of iron deficiency anemia include feeling tired and weak, decreased work and school performance, slow cognitive and social development during childhood, difficulty maintaining body temperature, and decreased immune function, which may decrease resistance to infection (1,32-35)."

Here are some related links that refer to the absorption of iron, and from what I have read you should be able to derive all the iron you need from your diet. Unless you have a predispostion or some health condition that would affect the amount of iron in your body.
