View Full Version : 3x3 Comments or Criticisms?

Anyone tried a 3x3 routine before? If so let me know how it went.

Basic principles are you do the 3 compounds 3 times a week. So the title 3x3 really has nothing to do with reps or sets. I think it's something like 3-8 sets of 5 for each.

I think deepsquatter.com has some articles on it in their archive.

I am looking to develop a new plifting program and am looking for examples to base it on.

Oh, just to add there is no assistance lifts at all in this program, just the big 3.

i tried it for about 3 weeks, not long enough to notice any real progress or anything. i did it as sort of a way to break in my body to get used to heavy lifting, and it worked

Never tried it, but my criticisms of it mirror those of people that have--

Basically, the %'s during the prep phase are too light...you don't develop any strength.

When you get to the comp phase, you're not sufficiently built up to peak right.

Additionally, there's no assistance work, and that can hurt you as well.

Tried it but got burned out after about 4 weeks. Maybe I wasn't doing it right, I don't know but I hit a wall and had to stop and take a week off. Maybe it was the volume? And this is after coming from a westside routine. I'm not a huge fan of the 3x3s.
