Beer has a very small amount of sugar, but it would also depend on the brand in question.

The light beer listed on the USDA page contained .177g of sugar per 12.oz.

The majority of calories in beer are derived from the alcohol that it contains. Alcohol is ~7 calories per gram.

Any valuable calories in there, or are they pretty much worthless? I've read in a few places limited amounts can be beneficial to your health.

You might get some cardiovascular benefits from moderate alcohol consumption, but this would not be limited to just beer. All in all I see no valuable benefits associated with beer consumption, other than psychological.:)
