Thanks. But actually the body is fiberglass. But it does have metal supports under the body panels in alot of areas. And the frame is heavy metal boxed all the way with 5 crossmembers. Car weighs prolly 3600lbs. People think vettes are light due to thier fiberglass skin. But all that weight savings was put into the frame. All American machine for sure:D

Hey man how much does a car like this cost in the us? I have never seen this kinda vette. Really sweet looking !!!

jcny19x, Ive never had the car on a dyno so I dont know the actual rear wheel hp. Its a 350ci and with all the engine mods im prolly pushin between 350 and 375hp at the crank. The 73 L48 Corvette wasnt too fast in stock form. I bought it when it was all stock and ran it at the track and could only do 15.6 @89mph in the 1/4mi. After several thousand dollars in engine and drivetrain mods ive the got the best ET down to 13.51@103mph in the 1/4. It aint the fastest car in town but its respectable.

Black_Curtain, I paid $8500 us for this one. With everything ive done to it I have close to prolly $15k in it. This body style runs from the years 1968 thru 1982. The price ranges vary widely bases on what year and what condition. For a decent shape car the price I paid is towards the lower end of the spectrum. Its not uncommon to see the more rare ones in mint shape go for $50+.

I live in Severna Park. ill be drag racing it again sept 7th at Capitol raceway in crofton. Its an all corvette event that day. Back in june i won top eliminator in my class at Cecil co. dragway and took home the trophy. i had a shot at another trophy for king of the hill. But the track closed early due to an incomming storm. Capitol raceway is about 20 mins from my house. A list of my mods are below. Not all inclusive but the basics.

73 Coupe, elkhart green, tan interior, 350, 64cc cast-iron, 10:1, CC XE262, Dynomax headers,
2 1/4" aluminized pipes w/H-pipe into Flowmaster 2 chamber mufflers, EDL2101, Holley 600,
BTO 2004R/3.90 rear, 460 front coils, TRW 340 composite monoleaf, Bilstein shocks,
polygraphite bushings. Best 1/4 E.T. 13.51@102.85 60' 2.007

Very cool. Keep us informed when you are going to run. I can't make the 7th (I have to buy Tryska a drink in Atlanta), but I've been to Cecil a couple of times.

Nice reasonable street machine.......sounds like she might be a bit demanding on the wallet in the MPG area but 13.5 sec E/T is a decent performance w/Street Equip. (throw on some slicks and open up those pipes and you might be pushing the hi 12's) STILL a very sweet ride dude.....classy and stylin' ride......and yup it's a BABE MAGNET too!

Its a beautiful car

Thanks again for the compliments everyone.

Wikked1, Its not that bad on the gas really if you take it easy. It has a 3.90 rear which is pretty steep but with the O/D tranny I cruise 65mph @ 2250rpm. Ive had it up to 135mph in 4th gear. It was revvin about 4k so it had some left. It would probably top out somewhere just under 150 at redline in 4th. At full throttle it shifts into 4th at about 105. Its pretty cool to feel another gear come in at that speed. My current carb and cam are matched perfect up to about 5500rpm. So opening the exhaust wouldnt really help me since it would sacrifice low end tq for top end power that I cant reach with my current setup. But the slicks would surely help as would some light weight wheels. Right now im running factory steel wheels with 60 series tires front and back. At the track I had to nurse it out of the hole or else it would spin wheels too much. My 60' times and top end would definatly be better whit some lighter wheels with slicks on the back and skinnys on the front. With that I might be knockin on 12's door. Its pretty good now for a mild 350. It does get alot of attention just cruisin around from young and old alike, men, women and children. Its a fun car for sure. I posted another link below to a pic of me launching at Cecil back in June.

You might be suprised what a mailman earns. And with the benifits included its not a bad deal. I work alot of overtime too. Its a solid middle class salary. While I aint gonna be rich, i aint gonna be poor either. The usps is always hiring. Especially relief carriers. I worked as a relief for years part time with no benifits untill I made a full career position. Most people are not willing to go thru that to get a job. But those who are willing, there are jobs available almost everywhere in the US. With overtime included, and not including the value of paid benifits, I will gross close to 60k this year.

Not to mis-lead anyone here. The reason I make what I do as a rural letter carrier is that I have always approched my situation in a fasion that would earn me the most possible money. There are slackers that dont wanna work as much and thier routes are smaller and they dont work overtime. Thier salaries are more in the 30 to 40k range. Ive always taken every opportunity to increase my workload and earn more.

Last time I was at the track I made a total of 9 runs. It was an all vette event. The only other vette that beat me that day was a Z06. And mainly becaust the dude knew how to drive it. My trophy winning run was against a 6spd 2003 vert. I dialed in at 13.54 and went 13.56. He dialed in at 13.70 and ran out at 13.68. It was a great feeling. He was pissed.:D

Im drag racin it tomorrow(sun) at Capitol Raceway in Crofton Md. Just spent the later half of the day preppin the car. She's runnin good and ready to go. Weather is in favor and with the storms pushin in off the coast we might be lucky enough to have a tail wind. Lookin to beat my best ET and MPH. Hopin to bring home another trophy. If it will stick off the line I should do well. I really need some slicks and lighter wheels with skinnys in the front. With that I would probably break into the 12's. Just aint got the cash for all that now. Oh well...ho hum....

Thats the original color and the original paint. Most of the cars that came this color have been repainted a different color. So its obvious that your not alone by not caring for it. But we do still get many compliments on the car and the color. I gues its a love hate thing. You either love or you hate it.

BTW, i didnt win a trophy at the track since i redlighted during the first run.:bang: But I had a great day with 5 total runs and beat my best ET. My previous best in the 1/4 mi was 13.51@102.8mph. My new best is now 13.36@103.59mph

When I was a kid, there was this guy 6 houses down who owned nothing but vettes. We called him the "Corvette Guy" I remember by the time I left for college, he must've owned like 10 different vette's.

I guess for some it can be addictive and compulsive and all that. My addiction is under controll. Mainly cause I have no money left to spend. Family life pretty much uses it all up.
