I know all the apparent benefits of taking (increased protein synthesis, decreased catabolism.. etc) but in your experience, is it worth buying and taking basically?

cheers in advance...

yes. i thought it did nothing, until i stopped taking it. I noticed a big difference in muscle soreness, but not necccessarily in gains/anti catabolism. That, i do not know about. But I just bought some more, because it is worth it to me.

I've found it helped me gain some size and deff during cutting and bulking phases.

I believe that it has helped my recovery to some degree. I dont know how much of it is psychological (brain trying to justify the amount of money I spend on supplements:)), but it seems to work.

Since it has also been found to boost the immune system, I figure its worth the money. Getting sick is not cheap.

hmm.. mixed views... it's just what with buying Whey so often it all adds up... and L-Glutamine isn't cheap...

This is the least expensive glutamine i could find: http://www.dpsnutrition.net/product_information.asp?number=UN190&back=yes&dept=1139&last=1139
Im taking 10g a day, so $30.00 will last me ~3 months, not too bad IMO.
I agree, it all really depends if you have a little extra money or not. If it comes between whey or glutamine, choose whey. I would actually put glutamine towards the bottom of the list as far as "essential" supplements go, but I happened to have an extra $30, so it was worth it for me.

Cheers for the link... here in UK, supps don't come cheap..
I always buy Whey before anything else.. ordered some the other day as it happens and some more multi-vits... creatine made little difference to me personally thats why i wondered about taking glutamine. Might look into it..

Any reason you feel this way? Personal experiance? Research? Im really curious. I hear quite a bit of people saying its not worth it, and obviously I feel otherwise. But i'd like to hear other people's experiances with it so i know im not feeling some massive placebo DOMS that make me wanna go buy glutamine.

I definitely feel that glutamine is worth taking! I always notice I make better improvements when using 15-20 g per day.

Based on what? Your vast experience?

I took it for several months. From anywhere between 15g-30g a day and never really noticed enough benefits to warrant me buying it again. My experience and the scientific research studies posted here, leads me to believe that its not really worth it.

If you have a MRP or supplement that has it mixed in go for it.. Otherwise not worth it to buy solo. I have seen minor results from it, but you can buy better things with 35-45 bucks.. Use the cash to buy a 50lb drum of protein. :P

I take glutamine peptides from proteinfactory.com
have been taking it for the past 2 months.
have been on a great diet, getting great workouts and great results, not sure if I can attribute it to the glutamine peptides at this point (take 10-15g per day) but when I run out of it I'll take a month off and see how my body changes
