Hey guys..
Just had some newbie supplement questions. I need to buy some supplements so I can plan out my meals. I was thinking to have one protein drink instead of a meal and one protein bar instead of a meal. They are very quick and easy. Right now I use some GNC Whey and balance bars. Not that great but now I want some GOOD stuff. Here goes:

1.) What is the difference between a mrp and a protein shake? Which should I have to substitue for a meal?

2.)What protein bar is the best?

3.) I know that after a weight workout you should have a lot of carbs with your protein drink but my protein drink has like no carbs whatsoever, is there a special powder you use only for post workout?

If you guys could give me the names of the **** i need to buy, then i could go to the store and get them. Or gimmie a good website so I can order them online!!

1) MPR tend to have carbs in them as well as protien. Some even have Essential Fats too.

2) Dunno. A steak Sandwhich.

3) You can buy some Energy drinks (expensive) or buy Dextrose/Gluscose Powder.

1. MRP's have carbs added to them, protein shakes are just protein. If you want to substitute a meal, use a MRP.

2. Personally, I think all protein bars suck. Just eat a sandwich on wholemeal bread like Yates said. Just as easy.

3. There are plenty of carb powders on the market that you can add to your protein drinks. Twinlabs makes like 5 different ones. You can get straight maltodextrine and dextrose at www.proteinfactory.com

I personally like Protein Diet bars, if you must use a bar instead of real food. High in protein, relatively low in fat, and low in carbs....and they taste pretty good too.

Well, they are not really low in carbs if you count the glycerine in them. That's one reason why I don't like them. Another is that some bars use some of their protein source from geletin, some have soy etc. I'd rather eat a sandwhich but that's just me.

well yeah....but that's to be expected with most protein bars....again, a reason why real food is better, but sometimes, it's hard to get that real food in, and it works for convenince sake.
