Any of you know if spicy foods help in the digestive process?

as a matter of fact they do. And have lots of cool phytonutrients in them.
stomachics offhand are - ginger, cayenne, and cinnamon. oh and basil, i think. and the mints.

Ginger and fennel are allegedly good for digestion.
Also, anything spicy stimulates the salivary glands and could possibly aid in food digestion in the mouth before it is swallowed.
I don't think there are any magic bullets out there tough.
Are you having a particular issue or just a general question?

just general question. i heard that spicy and hot foods like; hot mustard or hot salso help digestion because it raises your body heat levels.
dont remember where i've heard it before though.

I love spicy food, so I usually throw some salsa or curry paste in my tuna/chicken/whatever to add flavour. I don't know if it helps digestion, but it sure makes the food easier to take.
I can't imagine it does any harm....I hope not anyway...
Tryska, what are phytonutrients?

wide guy- plant compunds with nutrtitive value....like beta carotene in carrots, or lycopene in tomatoes...various alkaloids that work as antioxidants in our bodies.
