Differin gel vs Retin-A

I've been using DIfferen gel for about 2 weeks. Is this too soon to see the advantages ? What's the difference between Differen gel and retina-A? I was hoping my dermatologist would give me a prescription to Retin-A but he didnt. THe active ingredient in RetinA is not the same as the Differen Gel. ANyone know whats up with this? My dr is out of town til monday.

I am not 100% sure about this but I'll give it a try. I think Differin takes a while to notice results, like in the timeframe of a few months - my brother tried this drug. Retin-A is a vitamin A based treatment methinks, works for some but it is harsh on your skin. I have tried a similar retin-A type one, very disturbing burn/itch on your face unless you have really bad acne. When I applied it at night I could not sleep b/c of the discomfort.

Like I've posted before I can empathize with your problem. I have been on accutane twice (after trying everything else) and still had some left. Now I am clear but still have some scarring. I just have an everyday routine with my face. I am glad its over.

i used to use retin-a all the time, was pretty useless really. Helped the spots a little but what really helped was the antibiotics... but then they gave me other nasty sides :)

Retin A worked much better for me than Differen.

Experiment with both and see how they fair, tbh treatments like the ones describe are'nt a miracle/quick fix product, it takes quite a while to see noticeable difference.

When i was younger i had trouble with spots/acne and to me whatever treatment i used made no diiference impact wise, i eventually gave up realising that the ultimate factor was hormones/genetics.

However i would reccomend getting a prescription for Erythromycin stearate that worked well, and accutane can also have decent results although some get pretty f*cked up side effects

e.g. crashing a plane into a building on a test flight! and no it wasnt me!!! it was some teen in Italy last year
