For approximately the last two years i have been dealing with Lateral patellar subluxation. For those who don't know, basically my knee cap is too high, and it presses against the bone. The pain can get so bad that i can't even run sometimes. I am a pretty athletic person, who found ways to get around this condition. But lately I am having trouble doing simple things like playing basketball. Doctor is no help, because all he does is offer pills and tell you to work out your legs. I have been working my legs for about 3 years.

The pain is getting worse, and I am really afraid to imagine how it's going to be when I am 30. (I am 21). I would be very greatful if someone here can offer me some advice on dealing with this problem. I would trade anything to be able to have pain free knees.

Is there no possible surgery for this problem?
You say you have trained your legs for 3 years, have you made a lot of strength gains? How do you feel it affected the condition?
Does it hurt when you train?

Ask your doctor for surgery or something if the quad strengthening exercises aren't doing much good.

Mine does the exact same thing. IT is like we are screwed up kneecap buddies.

Just recently, it started hurting again for me. The last two times, he perscribed Physical Therapy and leg strength excercises.

It always comes back though.
