Yes. Gelatin is made from proteins derived from collagen, and is used in other products such as Jell-O, marshmallows, candies, etc.

Spartacus with all due respect, why would you think that a manufacture of fish oil caps would sell them if they had stuff that was harmful to you?

lots of food is sold as "health food" that is really not good for you or actually harmful. consumers have to be careful.

That I what I meant also. I mean if the question was regarding a Whopper or Ephedrine or even Creatine then it makes perfect sense. However, why would one worry about the capsule instead of what is in it. Arenít most over the counter medicines sold with similar capsules? If they were a possibility of a problem then manufactures would not use them since the FDA regulates them.

the FDA doesn't bother trying to keep people away from all the trans-fats they might come across

What I want to know is why a company would make you ingest plastic, hehe.

"Gelatin is derived from collagen, an insoluble fibrous protein which is the principal constituent of connective tissues and bones.
<snip>
Porkskin is currently the most significant raw material source for production of edible gelatin in North America. Supplied as either fresh or frozen, porkskins come from slaughter houses and meat processing plants already trimmed of fat, flesh and hair. Porkskins are usually dehaired by scalding with a hot dilute caustic soda solution."
