Post your Lifts and your total here, and your goal for the next 6months for your lifts and your total

Bench: 185x8 - bench max not worth taking with my bench repping increasing rapidly every week. I expect to either increase this to 195x6 Monday or do multiple sets of 185x5 - but I'm confident I can do 195 or 190 repping.
Squat: 185x2 - just got form down. I expect to increase this to 185x6 by this Monday.
Deadlift: 185x3 (5 sets). I am still working on form for the deadlift, so I expect for this to increase, like my squat, significantly.
6 month goals:
Bench: 225 for 6 reps. If my Bench increases at the pace it's going now, my goal could be as high as 3 pps for a few reps.
Squat: Same as bench.
Deadlift: Same as bench.

Goals for 6 months from now:
Bench goal might be hard to reach, as I dont really enjoy benching that much. Pulling goal is reasonable, I think, because Im a newbie and still have simple limiting factors that I need to overcome. Squat should be much higher, but Im still returning to pre injury weight right now.

Deadlift: 455x3 best ever, 385x8 currently

Best gym lifts(all within last two weeks):
My goal is to hit a huge PR total in less than six weeks at the APF Southern States. My PR total in one meet was 7 weeks ago 1170@145. I would like to be well over 1300 in December.
555/145=3.8 times your body weight squat. good job are you soon going to hit a 4*BW?
10-29-2003, 04:29 PM
Actually that squat was 555@156 BW which is just over 3.5xbw. I would love to hit 4x and I do think it is possible.

I am just bench specialist, so only competition lift has been the bench. have hit 550 on bench.
Squat is 700-800, and best deadlift is a paltry 545. I am not built to deadlift.
Have considered doing a full meet in spring. Expect to go 800-600-600, maybe a bit higher on the bench if all goes well.
Have to see how my low back holds up to the deadlift training. Been a bit shaky in pelvis/hips/low back, and glute/ham tie in lately. And its a bit hard to deadlift without those listed areas being healthy.
Damn B, you really ARE a monster
Bench: 165 :(
Bench: 225 (Yes, big jump, but I haven't tested my max in a while, and I think I can get 200 right now)
Hoping to make the half-ton club by next summer. :D

He he, thanks for the "monster" comment, but I am not a monster at all. My training partner, Jim G. squatted 905 in his last meet, and should be closer to a grand at world's next month.
He will likely bench between 500 and 530 and deadlift somewhere between 750 and 800. If he goes 9 for 9 and gets his best effort on all lifts (rare feat indeed) he could conceivably go 1000 - 530 - 770 for a 2300 total at 242 bodyweight. Now THAT is a monster.

^^......uh.....I don't even know how to respond to that. All I can say is that is incredible!!!
1000# squat? that really is a monster. Most impressive.

5'7". Thanks. Those are all equipped in powerlifting gear and would pass in a meet. I would also pass a drug test any day of the year.
Hey bench- are you currently training for a 3-lift or moreso just for the bench right now? My buddy is training for the same meet I am and is creeping towards that 600 bench in the 242's as well. It would be cool if you guys went head to head some day since your lifts are close.
Speaking of freaks, one of the guys I do my heavy squat training with hit 780x2 with straps down and wraps like it was a joke. They are unleashing him in December. Should be fun. :D

Latman, I intended to do a full meet this spring, but I keep getting hurt, which is getting frustrated. My deadlift sux real bad, and in spite of good overall body strength and lots of help I can't seem to get the deadlift moving. Every time I seem to be getting just a bit of a breakthrough I get hurt again.
As I type this I am in pain in and around my coccyx (don't laugh) and hips. I was experimenting with a new deadlift stance and managed, somehow to injure myself with 405 lbs, which is somewhat comical, actually.
If I was able to deadlift 600 without killing myself, I would have no problem lifting in a full meet, but I don't have any desire to go around being crippled all the time, and training hard for a full meet, at least for me, seems to lead to a bunch of injuries.
I can train hard on bench and stay pretty healthy, and I can train hard on squats 2 or 3 weeks out of the month and stay healthy, but squatting more often than that, or throwing in deadlifts for me personally is just a recipe for disaster. So unless something changes I will probably just stick with doing bench meets.
Incidentally, in training, at least, I have the second highest squat in my circle of training partners, so in spite of being a bench only guy, I still get some modicum of respect as I can out squat most of the "real" powerlifters. But as they say, the meet don't start till the bar hits the floor, and if you can't deadlift, you are not a real powerlifter.

->I hit 225 for 2 reps this week
->I pulled 405 a long time ago, prolly higher like 455 now
->squated 335*2 yesterday
->all about 165lb bw
->hopefully around 180lbs

best lifts so far are
355 x 2 squat @ 148
265 bench @ 145, 275 @ 155
440 dl @ 145
Goals are 400 sq/ 300 bp/ 500 DL before i turn 17, and under 165 lbs

My current numbers in the gym are:
My heaviest training weight so far is 158.5. I'm competing in less than 3 weeks and will hopefully break 600 in the squat, 300 in bench and 500 in the dead in the 165 class.
11-18-2003, 03:58 AM
Some awesome numbers guys.
My bwt is usually between 155 and 165 @ 5"9 21 y/o and i hover between 11-14% bodyfat. I train both bodybuilding and powerlifting which is stupid but fun.
My current results are
meet: Raw- Bench only: 280@165
Gym: Deadlift: 440
I'm currently focussing on getting a six pack and plan on being a very competitive and ripped powerlifter when i compete next year.
At under 165 I will be capable of a 550 deadlift, a 475 squat and a 325 bench in 16 months.
11-25-2003, 01:43 PM
My maxes for now are:
Bench: 235 X 6 for 5 sets
Trap bar(hex) deadlift: 510
Barbell curl: 120 X 1
Goals are to raise Bench to 255 X 5 in 5 sets
and Curl to 140 X 1 in 3 months
