View Full Version : Protein causing bloat?

Hey,

I have always heard excess carbs can be the cause of bloating when gaining or losing weight, but my question is this. My diet is something like 60-80% protein, much of which consists of cottage cheese. I find myself and my face in particular to be bloated, could this actually be caused by my body's reaction to the exces of protein? Any ideas or opinions would be greatly appreciated.

first of all that is way too high a % to be protein, so your either eating to low of cals, or too many grams of protein..

2nd, cottage cheese is a milk product.. maybe are are partially lactose intolerant?

Sounds more like a food allergy, and not something that would be attributed to a high protein intake. Although I am just speculating.

Have you tried decreasing the amount of dairy in your diet? If that is what you think might be causing the problem.

I agree with defcon, in that it sounds as though you are taking in too much protein.
