View Full Version : Flax Seed Oil causing acne?

lately I've broken out with acne my mid-upper back and shoulders. And my face isn't as clear as it has been in the past.

The only thing I've changed different in my diet lately is adding flax seeed oil a few weeks ago. Could this extra oil from the flax be related to making my skin more oily, hence causing the pimples?

Also can anyone suggest a real good lotion to help take these blemishes away?

i doubt it's the flax, but aloes will clear it up. maybe you've just got extra test floating around in your system?

Flax should HELP the skin and hair. Take vitamin B-5(pantothenic acid), it will help clear up skin. Helped a lot with me.

Do you tan at all?

I haven't been in a tanning salon for about 6 months. Think I should go in for some sessions to help dry it out?

That could help; I know tanning dries me out. But make sure the bed is cleaned before you get in and that you wash your back off once you get out.

Most likely either you will sweat badly or the person before would have and that could be a cause for pimples. That's why I asked.

Blackalpha how do ya figure that Flax can cause acne? All of the reports I"ve seen have stated that no type of food can cause acne....

about the only way i can see that happening, is that EFAs help with hormone production.....so if test production is stepped up by consuming them, then perhaps it can increase acne. this purely hypothetical. If anything I would think that EFAs would bring the body back in to balance. My take on acne is that it is a symptom of a larger imbalance.

This is my cutting diet. I switch between the two every day. I eat about 2600 calories / day.

too many grains, not enough vegetables.

your carb percentage is good...but i would re-evaluate the carb sources. of course swapping out grains for veggies will cause a dip in both percentage and cals, but if you bring the fat up a bit, you will have a nice cutting diet there.

what does the grains have to do with acne?

but yeah I do normally start to switch up the grains with veggies in 1 or 2 meals once I get to sub 2400 calories per day.

btw- I've cut out the flax for 2 days now and am already starting to see a significant improvement. I switched them up with almonds in my last meal of the day.
My testosterone has probably been lowered too.. doh. Guess you gotta take the good with the bad.
I got a big date this weekend so priority calls.
