Lets say i weight 180lbs with 20% bf..

What if i eat 1300-1500 cals a day with 180g protein and the rest fat..do this for 3 days ( cardio each day at low-med intensity for say 30 - 40 mins )

Then on day 4 eat about 3500-4000 cals with 200 g protein and the rest carbs, with very little fat.. ( it is on this day that i do my workout, do a 3 day push pull legs split ).

Would this be really catabolis during the 3 low low cal days? or is it safer to just stickk to my 2100 cal/day diet?

I doubt you would see much, if any muscle loss, since you are at ~20% bf. When one is at a higher bf% the body will want to rid itself of this unwanted fat, hence the bf setpoint theory.

Although weight loss is pretty straightforward if you are above 15%. Just reduce calories by ~20% below maintenance, consume adequate protein and EFAs, and continue this process until you get down to around 15%.

I think you would see better results following the approach I mentioned above instead of following a plan like you mentioned above.

I think that it would work, but I would suggest maybe bump up protein just a tad on low cal days, and lower it on High Carb days as carbs are protein sparring and you should focus in on getting as much of your cals from carbs.

I have a link for you you may wanna try out. I am going to give it a shot even though I have been half-assed doing it thus far. Basicially your cyclying carbs and calories.

Check out Avant Site and mind and muscle magazine. It is an Article written by Twin Peak called carb cycling. I am going to focus to stick to it. You may wanna give it a shot and it may work nicely for you seeing how much you like oatmeal :)

Read it and tell me what you think.

Peace.

Im still on my plan to get sub 15% with a standard 45p/25c/30f 2100 cal diet, then i may try carb cycling. Diet has been perfect since i had that lil bingeof oatmeal and cottage cheese on wed. tho :)

This is an old thread, I realize, but to clarify, they are the same artcles, by the same brilliant author. Mind and Muscle allows certain places to reprint old issues.
