If I have a big gap between lunch and dinner (say 6 hours), and my only choices are
1. eat a larger (but healthy) lunch
or
2. eat a medium healthy snack 3 hours after lunch (eg. granola bar)
which would be better?

ehhhhh, in the end of the day it prolly will not make a huge difference. Prolly no difference at all, but if your gonna have the 6 hour break try and get sum cottage cheese in there. Also, what are your goals? cut or bulk?

as long as your daily caloric needs are fulfilled i do not see a problem, as long as you can make that long without eating, which can be tough(hunget pains!!!!!). i'd say try both and see which works better for you.
It's not about daily caloric need. Get that snack in there. If it were just daily caloric need, why waste my day eating when dieting, I'd eat one 2500 calorie meal ;) .

lol
I'm sure you've all read articles on how eating more frequently promotes fat burning, less fat storage.
Eating is cool anyways. Everyone else is doing it.
