That guy is a freakin moose!! I'm glad he took it back...Bolton doesn't deserve the squat and deadlift. ;)

Wonder if Goggins will beat that anytime soon? Oan Basson is another strong squatter. I am sure he will be setting records some day. That really surprsied me when Bolton got the last record. With a 932lbs. DL, I guess you can do almost anything you want.

:omg: Thats beyond awseme, what kind of bar can support that much weight? I guess its not a 45lb bar right? That would snap with that much weight. 1141lbs squat.

That's LATMAN in 3 years. But he's going to be around 170. And when he's famous and too big, we will all sit back sand reminisce about knowing him when he was just a WBB'er.

If the photo was snapped in the deepest position, it's not deep enough.

Mikesell squats deeper than any other superheavyweight out there. I was not at that meet, but 3 of the guys I train with from my gym were there, as was a freind of mine from Washington, and all said he was plenty deep.

When viewing this photo, it is apparent to me that the photo was taken from a very high angle. That will skew the view re: depth. But Mikesell is not a guy who squats high and hopes that it gets passed. He goes way deep for a man of his size.

One other note re: squat depth. As you get bigger it becomes more and more difficult to take a squat deep. Also bigger men's thigh circumference can interfere with the "look" of being parallel.

In the APF, and all other feds rules I am aware of, the crease at the hip joint must be parallel to the top of the knee at full squatting depth for a good squat. This is far deeper than most people who squat in the gym are going. Most gymrats think parallel means that the bottom of the thigh (hamstring) is parallel to the floor. Getting the crease in the hip below the knee is way way lower than that.

And even if he did cut it a shade high, which he did not, 1100 plus lbs and a new world record weight is way impressive regardless. Mikesell is the strongest schoolteacher in the world, I think.

I've also heard that is almost impossible to accurately judge a wide stance squatter's depth from the front.

:bang:
If the judges say it was deep enough it was deep enough. It is simple as that.

its hard to judge depth from the front whether its wide or narrow.

You cant tell by a freakin pic if he was going up or if it was in the hole. It was a damn impressive squat, and he squats deeper then most big squatters do.

From what i've seen picturs from the front are irrelavent in this discussion.
