I think if you ask "if you went out with somebody else" then it would sound like you had somebody in mind. Which might upset her. I would ask her if she would be more comfortable keeping things at a friendship level until she had more time to focus on something more.

She might get jealous and decide she wants more. But once you screw another chick you might have gone to far. Then again I usually don't turn down sex, and talk is cheap.
