I've always been the type of person that eats clean. Now i decided to cheat for 1 day & I gained 15-20 lbs of water. I drink alot of water so i don't see why this happens. This has happened in the past. Could someone explain this? Should I go see a doctor?

If you were previously following a balanced diet that was low in sodium then I would not be overly concerned about the water retention, which should pass in 48-72 hours. I would recommending consuming plenty of water during this time period, as well as following your normal diet.

The increased water retention is probably due to the refilling of muscle glycogen and the large variance in dietary sodium intake (increase in aldosterone levels).

BTW, dandelion root would be a useful supplement if you wanted to help shed the excess water, but it is not necessary.

I have that happen too me also, not that much though. I drink more then gallons per day, but sometimes consume too much sodium and retain water. Even though I know, it is water it still bugs me a lot. I have even contemplated taking some of those water pills woman take during their period.

I don't mind it as long as I'm lookin leaner in the mirror over time.
