Admittedly, work is going to get hectic again and I'll probably stop going to the gym and probably drop this journal. But since there is unlimited disk space in the world, what's it going to hurt? Went back yesterday, hoping to make it a consistent thing again, but we'll see. Here's yesterday:

Bench!
45x5
135x3 (holy forgot how to balance the bar, Batman!)

OH DB Press (on a ball)
4 sets of 6 with 45

Elbows-out Skulls
3 sets of 12 with 100 (ok so from rep 9 on, I cheated every set, sue me)

Pushups
103 (I can still do centuries!)

Some dickhead saw me trying to manuever dumbbells and keep the ball in place and made a smart-ass comment about being able to lift a weight I couldn't control. It was a real pleasing thing when I saw him trying it later and he damn near ripped his arm off losing his balance. Or maybe it's just that I really like being an asshole. I hate public gyms, I remembered. The facilities pretty much suck. Oh well.

Do you have a set routine laid out or are you just going to try and fit sessions in because of your hectic schedule??

Ideally, it'll work something like this:

ME Bench
Bench (some variant)
High volume triceps
Mid volume shoulders
Low volume lats

ME Squat
Sq/DL/GM (some variant)
High volume hams/glutes
Low volume abs

DE Bench
Speed work
High volume lats
Mid volume triceps
Low volume shoulders

DE Squat
Speed work
High volume abs
Mid volume hams/glutes

But with the new business still being new and wild, I'm sure I'll have to play by ear a lot. I hope to do 2 days on, 1 day off, 2 days on, 2 days off. We'll see. A few guys here are interested in trying it out, maybe the gym will motivate them to do things right and fast. :)

Felt good, don't feel like the posterior has suffered much during the layoff. However after SLDL's the back of my right leg swelled up something fierce. Or rather it started filling up with fluid like I screwed something up. It's right around the area just above the back of my knee and it's still big and jiggly today. So I called it a short night, did the ice and heat thing and hoping it gets better and isn't anything serious. If it IS serious, then I'll simply stop doing lower body stuff and work on my Johnny Bravo look until I'm healed!

Are you using any gear on those and if not do you own any? I can't remember if you said you went raw or not.

I don't own any gear. I wanted to get some earlier this year when everything got sidetracked. I really want to get back into lifting again, so perhaps soon I'll start asking for recommendations.

I'm wondering if it's my hamstring or if I just angered some tendons or something. There's not really any discomfort, I just have a big jiggly swollen area near my knee. If I give up being stubborn, I may have a doctor take a peek and give me ideas for speeding recovery. But hopefully it'll all take care of itself on my days off this weekend.

Speed wasn't bad. Balance was terrible. Everything else was cool.

You're wrong about everthing, but holy crap those are awesome squats.

Why are you speed benching 105 when your max is clearly at least 2.5 times bigger?

How much do you weigh?

I speed bench low because bench is a huge weak point, and always has been, from the chest until about 3" up. I need to train lighter on speed days because I need more explosiveness. I've always blamed either my long arms or my weak lats for my bench troubles.

Today I weighed 212.

My goals in the gym are simple. I want to lift bigger proportions than LATMAN and I hope it makes him want to lift bigger proportions than me, and in the end I hope we both squat over 800.

My shoulders are weak, and my lats are not. I wonder if maybe more shoulder concentration would allow me to complement my lats when getting the bar off my chest?

Had a revelation that maybe I'm better suited to conventional deads. Being tall it would fit with all the Tate articles I've read. I'll be trying it out next time.

At this point I was unmotivated as hell, so I just did lots of abs. I'm not real sure but it went something like this:

Today I can't laugh because my tummy is all sore.

OK, this isn't much of a journal entry, but I did Romanians again at lunch today, but this time I did them on a platform and let the bar go down to just above my feet.

I pulled 515. I am definitely not meant to do deads sumo-style.
