Do you have something like windows 2000 and Internet Explorer 6? If you click the help menu on your browser and click "about" it should at least tell you what kind of browser you have.

Try this...
On year browser click the "Tools" menu. Select "windows update." From there it'll take you to MS' site where you can "Scan for Updates." Accept the updates (if you have dial up this'll take forever.) If you are missing the JVM this should fix it. Otherwise you've probably got a setting wrong under Internet Options.

If the above doesn't work you can download J2SE 1.4.2 from java.sun.com

I don't remember how to get that back. Try alt+V to bring up the view menu and select some of the toolbars and stuff.
