Hi all,

I'm sorry if this has been asked before and I didn't see it. I am lazy and just hoping for a simple answer to aid me on my way.

I am 48 years old. Basically good health.

6'0" 206 pounds (early AM bare ass naked - scary pic that eh)

Former smoker now about 18 months clean. Former junk food eating couch potato. I have improved my diet to mostly quality foods. I lift 3 times a week (basically the routine described here) and do some strenuos walking 4 times a week.

What I want is to lose 10-15 more pounds and continue to gain muscle. I currently have a protien shake in the AM but use no other supplements.

I now need to add Glucosomine due to arthritis in the knees and got t o thinking maybe I should consider other things as well.

I am lazy. What I want is maybe a single source of everytihjing in a mix. Or perhaps a mix minus protien and I can mix it in with the shake in the AM.

I am ignroant of most of the supplements and do not want to take anything that might cause me harm. Looking a bit better isn't worth any health risks.

ANy suggestions? Places to buy it?

Thanks.

If you are taking a quality protein product I think the only other supplement you may consider would be creatine.

Creatine has been proven to increase lean muscle mass. This effect is beneficial if you are looking to lose fat as increased lean body tissue will have you burning more calories even when you are at rest.

Our company, AtLarge Nutrition sells high quality protein products and the purest creatine monohydrate on the market. You can read reviews about our products, see them, and buy them at www.atlargenutrition.com .

I'm assuming you're already taking vitamins so I wont say to take those.

I suggest you take a really good multi vitamin tab. Protein, the multi, and creatine will help immensely, especially now that you're doing weight training.

Also, you need to look at post workout nutrition. Its important to consume some 25-50 grams of a fast-digesting protein like whey along with 50-100 grams of fast-digesting carbs(like dextrose) immediately after a workout. In fact, now that you've got your diet pretty much squared away, I'd say thats about the only change you should make for now. After a workout, drink the protein and carbs, along with 5-10g creatine, and take your multi. Word.

OK. I am a bit sceptical though.

Creatine I have heard stops working when you stop taking it. Is there a point to it if it is a temporary effect? I am confused. Is there some permanent effect of this?

I am also wondering if the weight loss products actually work and don't counter the effect of lifting. CLA sounds promising, but I don't want to damage my health if it is risky.

And actually, no, I am not taking a multi vitamin. Guess I should.

Thanks

Some of the weight gained when one uses creatine is due to water retention. This will go away with the cessation of use. The actual increase in the size of your contractile proteins will not fade with the cessation of use.

What you have heard is incorrect, or at the least incomplete.

You can go to pub med online and read numerous studies which show creatine will increase lean muscle tissue in most users (when combined with heavy resistance training).

OK. I will try Creatine. Thanks for the tips.
