I try to make sure I eat one can of tuna a day. I prefer the solid white albacore though, i think it tastes better than the regular chunk light tuna.

Mmmm, tuna.

Mix it with some salsa
or some tomatoes and hot sauce
or if you're feeling frisky, some duck sauce.

I have cut back on it lately, but was doing 4 cans/day for a while. Fat free mayo and salsa together make it pretty good, and just some lemon juice isn't bad, but I burned out on that pretty quick.

Another vote for solid white albacore. It doesn't smell/taste quite as fishy.

I have two things against solid white albacore. One, it is considerably more expensive than chunk light(Yes, I think a dollar versus fifty cents is considerable.) and two, it is much more firm, and I can't pack it into my gullet fast enough.

Taste? **** taste. If you want food that tastes good, go to culinary school. Nobody said bodybuilding was a foxtrot with flavor.

I eat one can a day with some mayo and sweet relish, and it's actually pretty good.

Another strike against the albacore is that it has nearly four times the mercury.
I eat tuna every day because I don't have the choice to do otherwise.

there are different kinds of tuna.
solid white albacore is totally nasty

star kist chunk light was my tuna of choice.
In water its very good, but a little better in oil.
add a tea spoon of Kens Creamy cracked Peppircorn salad dressing and thats probably my all time favorite meal.

Pfffft. Don't avoid the flavor of tuna. Gulp the **** down with water.

Fork of tuna, gulp of water. Repeat until completion is reached. I prefer to go around the flavor.

As for mercury, I'm not afraid of it. Its the least of my worries. I lift heavy weights constantly, will probably end up getting diabetes from steroid and insulin use, I don't do enough cardio, I don't eat enough EFAs, and I don't take vitamins for weeks at a time. I don't think the mercury is going to do me in. In fact, I think the added mercury will be a balancing agent in my already ****ed up body.

I actually cut out the tuna and just eat a tub of mayo every day.

I don't worry so much about mercury. I take a tablespoon of straight mercury in the morning just to challenge the gods.

LOL @ Budiak.

The main reason I can't stand chunk light is that it is too hard to drain--I mash the hell out of the stuff, and there is still loads of water in it, which ends up making it taste really awful when mixed with mayo. On the other hand, the solid white does take very long to chew up, which is a different kind of unpleasantness.

For a break, I switch over to canned chicken once in a while.

I think the sodium from canned foods will do you in faster than mercury. Ever look at how much sodium is in a can of tuna?

I find that the texture of the chunk light (in water all the way... oil is nasty as hell) is a little less unpleasant if you shake the bejesus out of the can before you open it. Then when you open it, don't drain it too much (i.e. don't mash every bit of liquid out with the lid). I like to kind of flake it with a fork and then eat it. I tried about 2 teaspoons of lemon juice on it yesterday and it was actually sort of good...

well guys, i decided to give tuna another chance.....i was crazy for eating that stuff raw!!!!!

i just mixed it with some fat free mayo and it actually tasted good! i couldnt believe it

now this is something i could probably deal with for a while..because eating it raw was just plain disgusting to me

plus i eat the tuna that comes in the package....no draining, just open it up and pour it in a bowl

Totally, or now I've begun to like the taste of raw out of the can tuna because it is good for me.
