This is my first time keeping any sort of journal. Hopefully this will help me to reach my goals and identify my problem areas. First I'll introduce myself though:

I'm an 18 year old student at Auburn University in Alabama. I've been lifting since right after my 15th birthday when I decided I was too skinny (5'10'' at 140 pounds). Six months later I knew I was hooked and loved to workout.. I've been working out ever since.

My stats are:
bis- 16''
chest-40''
quads-23''
best bench-300
best squat-315
best power clean-210

I had always done squats (not as much as bench).. especially in high school but it wasn't until last semester when I started deadlifting. I pulled the crap out of my low back doing deadlifts.. being a moron and lifting way way too much weight. This semester I've just stuck with my upper body routines and doing cardio for legs since it hurts too much to do squats or deads. Maybe in time whatever I pulled will heal (the doctors aren't sure what it is because nothing looks wrong or out of place on x-ray.. so maybe I'm just pinching a nerve they say) and I can start doin lower body stuff again.

Anyhow I've been working out every day this week.. doing upper body stuff. I'll log my lifts after tonights workout.

I don't really have a set workout plan.. I used to do WBB #1 until I pulled my back.. anyway more lifts tomorrow.

Hey brad, nice journal. So are you thinking a two day split or what? Also, why do you only do one set of bench?

actually, I'm kind of experimenting. I want to see what kind of results I get if I do the same muscle groups, but something slightly different every time.

today I was going to go to the gym at 10 as usual but some sort of fitness competition was being held so it was closed.. came back tonight and did 30 min of cardio.. I'm surprised I didn't die I never do cardio

Ohhh, did you see the fitness comp at all? Like what they were doing. I was gonna sign up for it but I had classes.

nah I have no idea what they were doing but if they had cardio of any sort in it I would've been screwed

thanks st patrick.. I'm hoping the DB bench will add more mass. I want to try something besides just BB bench all the time.

I was kind of excited to do legs today because its a nice change of pace from my normal routine. Plus I know training my legs will help with overall growth.

yeah.. hopefully when I get in the gym next I'll be able to do like 110s or something like that

today I did some crap at my house -my lack of equipment kinda limits me so all I did was:

BB bench - I wanted to see if my strength stayed the same after going kinda lighter for a month with the DBs for bench

I'm trying to gain weight, but I'm in no hurry I suppose. My goal is to weigh around 200 lbs by the summer with about 7-10% BF. My diet is okay most of the time I eat chicken, fish, pork, rice, oatmeal, natty PB, and vegetables. Tons of water. I do slip up and have crap food like donuts and candy and stuff. My weight fluctuates between around 178-185 depending on what I've been eating.

Just worked out

BB bench I'm still at home so I don't have heavy DBs

You're shooting for 200? That's what I weigh now; that would be a LOT of weight no you. Gotta love the basement workouts; they bring back memories of benching three times a week and doing buddy curls.
