How many should I take a day, When should I take them, and should I take them on my rest days aswell?

Nothing wrong with taking them on rest days to get in some extra protein. Def take one after your workout, before if you like. If your short on your protein, drink another one if you can't get a meal in.

i agree wit rpffly that that depends on ur goals and stats etc. i weigh about 200 lbs and i only take one a day(48 g of Protein) as i rely on my diet to provide me wit the other 150 odd g. of protein optimally needed...

you need to start taking a look at your totals
total cals
total protein
etc...

I can't really bother counting my protein and carbs because generally I don't plan my meals I eat whats present. with the exception of lat fat. But I'm trying to Bulk right now. so This is why I'm wondering.

in that case try to eat some protein with every meal and take a shake when the meal dosen't include protein

It's protein...sorta like asking should I eat chicken, when should I eat it, can I eat chicken on off days? Generally, you'd want whole food throughout the day, but a protein shake is fine if you need quick calories or something.

if your not counting your calories then its impossible to say how many shakes you should take....
anywhere between 1-10.....
