One morning I woke up with a really upset stomach. Now for breakfast I will either have 5 egg whites, 1 whole egg, 2 pieces of wheat toast with peanut butter and a glass of milk. Or a protein shake with 2 scoops of protein, a bananna, and 1/2 cut of oatmeal if I am running late. I was running late so I grapped my shake. When I got to work I started to feel like I was going to pass out so I laid down on the ground. Well just as I laid down I got sick. Well I sat down for about thirty mins for a friend to get me, cause I didn't want to drive home and risk doing it again. Well right after my friend got there I did it again. Well we went to the ER and I did it again 4 more times. Total I almost passed out 6 times, and got sick 4 times.

I was in the hospital for 3 days, they found elevated liver enzymes (not sure specifically which enzymes where elevated) and dehydration. They put me on saline solution and my readings are back to normal. My liver enzymes should have read 70, mine was reading 500. The dehydration would explain the passing out, but not the elevated enzyme levels.

I was taking a protein shake a day, 5gm of creatine an hour before I worked out and 5 gms of L-glutamine. Oh and I was working out 4 days a week. The doctor looked at that and only said the protein powder was bad. But my question was what supplement would you think caused my elevated liver enzymes?

Ever since I got out of the hospital I haven't taken anything. I want to first know which of my supplements where causing the elevated enzymes, and if I should be taking the protein powder? The protein powder to me doesn't seem like it was effecting it.

first of all I'm sorry to hear that

I bet if you asked your docotor why he/she thinks the protein effected your liver you won't get an aswer...

just to be cautious I would dropp the creatine

you could drop the glutamine too because it really dosen't do anything

on top of that you may want to go pick up a liver cleanse and for sure if you are not allready eat really clean

I was doing more research and believe the L-glutamine was effecting my liver enzymes. But even the doctor wasn't sure. I did notice that after taking L-glutamine, I felt like my kidneys was working harder than normal. They didn't hurt and there wasn't blood in my stool. But I just felt different, you know.

I like creatine, I feel it helps more than hurts. But it can cause dehydration without alot of water.

Your right though about the doctor not specifically saying why protein powder is bad. Her answer to "why can't I take it?" was just "don't." But I do feel like I had too much protein, and not enough carbohydrated in my diet.
