how soon to start cutting to be ready for display

but I am wondering how soon should I start cutting before I set date, so I can look my best in that particular date ?

I guess that would depend on how many pounds of fat you need to lose. To avoid losing too much lean mass it is recommended to drop your calories until you are losing about 1 lb per week.
