Hey people, I got a question about a ephedrine based product, it’s called "Thermogenesis" and its manufactured by Nature's Lab. Anyway, my question is, approximately how many calories do one of these things burn? The ingredients of one capsule are as follows...

375mg Ephedra (8% Ephedrine)
375mg Kola-Nut (75% Caffeine)
50mg White Willow Bark

If been taking them for 3 weeks now and yes I know that they are not magical weight loss pills, my diet, cardio, and workout schedule is in check. So, any estimates to my question, and have any of you used these before? Thanks for your time.

think of it in terms of a percentage of your total cals

ie: 5% increase in daily requirements

this is something that likely has not been studied

adjust cals as you would any diet in increments

Not used them before, but in answer to your question generally, these types of supplements will assist calorie burning (though not massively). Approximately a 5% increase is considered the norm.

In addition to this though, the ingredients (especially caffeine / guarana) help to surpress appetite (stopping calories going in in the first place!) and help to stimulate when energy levels may be low due to calorie reduction.

Yea, they only increase energy expenditure minimally, but that is why we consider them "supplements." Studies have shown that megadoses (50mg 3x/day) of Eph increase energy expenditure by ~3.5% in 24 hours. Now, cut that dosage in half and add caffeine, and I guesstimate a 3.5% energy expenditure.

Thats about right, ECA raises the metabolism by 3-5% on average.

On average.
