Eat a ton of the right foods. Drink a ton of water. Lift a ton of weight. Finish up with tons of sleep. Keep in mind that the best "shape" are often held by those who dabble in anabolics. If you make the decision to do that, I hope you at least get educated about them first.

In the first post, he mentions wanting to be in narcissus shape.

You're too skinny, eat more. Don't be afraid to gain weight, just keep eating once you feel like you're ready to cut, do that next :)
Right now you look little bellow average. No offence dude, I was this skinny too 5 years ago.

I'll be the first to admit im too skinny- i kno i dont eat as much as i should, but i eat plenty of calories a day, 2500 usually, but past week i've been eating 5-10 protein bars a day, no joke- i've been getting 3500-4500 calories and im still not gaining, im trying hard tho.. antek: no offense taken, i'm still a teenager- i think im around 8-15% bf not sure at all tho

You finally up'd your diet, so stick with it. It'll come. I am a hardgainer too, but am overcoming it.
Drop the protein bars - you are relying on them too much
What does your diet look like?
It should be ATLEAST 180/250/100 (protein/carb/fat) . But you sound like me. I was 6'3" and about 165. I was taking in 200/300/150 before I started to move any. Let us see your diet and lifting routine.

don't have enough time for a set routine yet, this summer i'll try to make one-- at my school its really hard to have the time to even lift a little. my diet looks like.. about 100 g protein/3-400 carbs/80g fat (if im lucky) Alot of my diet is junk- i'll have one good meal w/ chicken and lots of it, but thats as good as it gets.

If i drop the protein bars, i'm a goner for sure- theyre my main source of protein and fat (balance, caramel nut crunch) not to mention delicious

Well good luck. No time for a eating right, or lifting right? Well, there's not much bodybuilding going on. Stick around, educate yourself to the max, and this summer you will be prepared to lift right.

You could've easily gotten more. I mean if you dropped the 1/2 gallon of gatorade and replaced it with a couple cans of tuna you'd be at like 200g protein.

SonOfLiberty

Protein doesn't mean squat right now. You need a ton of calories. if you eat 2500 cals, and youre not gaining, then eat 3500, 4500, hell go for 6000. dont eat a can of tuna and say 'well i got 30 grams of protein im good for a couple hours." Because in reality you only got about 150 calories.

Eat beef, eat fast food, eat pizza. whatever you eat, eat alot of it. Be sure to get plenty of vits and mins too, dont rely on a macro breakdown too much, it doesn't mean as much as people may express.

Like SOL said, you have to force enough food down. I was skinnier than you when I was 22 years old. I thought there was no way I could put wait on until I started forcing myself to eat more. Lots more. It will work. You may have to limit cardio, if you're doing much of that, until you start gaining.

JTyrell710
03-19-2004, 08:29 AM
its sort of hard to stay away from cardio with intense bball practice at least 2 times a week, but i think i'l go to my friends house more, i always eat the ****iest (lots of cals) foods there, and lots of em.. how much weight do you think i need to put on? 10 pounds? 15-20?

Just for an example of my diet
Today I had a Buffalo Chicken Wrap, Drink, 3 power bars, one nutrigrain bar, one pack of gushers- and thats basically my breakfest and lunch
1900 Calories | 57 grams of Fat | 280 Carbs | 84 grams protein
for dinner i figure to add about 500 calories, 20 g fat, 50 g carbs and 33 g more of protein
and this is a pretty tipical day for me, only without the sweets- around 10 i might have a few packs of gushers (5-6 @ 90 calories each) and a power bar.
Today was Bi/forearms/abs day

couple tips to add more calories.

when you're thirsty, drink juice/gatorade. not just water.

when you're stuffed at dinner, always take a few more bites.

drink a protein shake or gatorade during your basketball practices, help replenish burned calories.

eat more frequently. it sounds like you eat 3 meals a day. add a couple sandwiches and fruit between those meals. dont forget to eat or drink following a weight session.

thanks SoL- im gonna add a peanutbutter sandwhich or two or three between lunch and dinner- and considering the fact i drank about half gallon of water today- if i did gatorade or protein shake instead of that i think i'd be set in terms of cals. thanks for the eating advice

I agree regarding concentrating on calorie intake over macronutrient breakdown. Much more important to a teen wanting to gain.
