I got kicked in the face multiple times when my roommate and I were wrestling a while back. In fact, a month and a half ago. I have this blood clot on my face, under my eye. At least my mom thinks its a blood clot. She says I should go to a dermatologist, but I would seem to think there is a fairly easy way to get rid of a blood clot?

Anyone know any way to get rid of one? Thanks.

Heath, What's it look like? Is it just like a bit of dry blood under your skin?

Is it just a bruise? a blood clot would be in your veins and could cause a possible stroke or Myocardial Infarction. Take a 325mg aspirin a day and make an appt with your doc asap

Yeah basically it looks like some dry blood under my skin. It's just a little oval that is a bit purplish. About 1/2" under my right eye. Thing is, I never bled from being kicked, so I just always thought it was a bruise...that never went away. I would try to take a picture, but my digital camera battery is dead. I will try to get one taken tomorrow.

Ogar: Will the aspirin just thin out my blood? I am trying to schedule an appointment, but I am about to head back up to school and it is a weekend, so no doctors open.

Sounds to me like you've got something more like a blood blister. I've gotten those before. Doc will probably drain it or tell you to suck it up and let your body dispose of it. The aspirin is often used on people who develop blood clots...and yes, it thins your blood. I don't think that's what you're describing though. Still, a visit to the university clinic wouldn't hurt.

Don't take the aspirin, that is ridiculous. Any "clot" you have that you can see on your face will not embolize to your heart or lungs. Aspirin is useful for decreasing the ability of your platelets to stick together and form a clot which can help some people who have other risk factors for a heart attack.

What you have is likely a sub dermal (below the first layers of skin) collection of old blood that your body has yet to remove. It can take a lot of time. Don't even think about sticking a needle in it. If you get an infection there it can scar you for life, not to mention the risk of infecting your eye. See a doc if you want. He'll tell you to wait a few months and then consider laser treatment to break up the pigment if it doesn't go away on its own.

LOL, It doesn't look that bad Heath. I, again, don't think it's a clot (but I'm not an MD). I wouldn't drain it myself. You could get it infected, plus it looks a bit deep for draining. Go see your doc. Explain to him that you don't want that mark on your face when you're at your sister's wedding. He may send you to a dermatologist. I really don't know what they'll do. They may just give you some concealer then you can wear some "dumbass bitch" makeup to conceal that mark on your "gay face". LOL. Well, you know what I mean. Best of luck with it.

Haha, well it's bad enough in person. I think I am going to the doctor tomorrow. Hopefully I don't have to wear makeup :hide:

Thanks guys.

i barely saw it in the closeup pic. people at the wedding will not notice it - they will be drinking and farther away (hopefully). just put a touch of foundation on it and it will be invisible. i wouldn't drain it myself, personally. i doubt the doc will do much for you, but i could be wrong. it's happened once or twice.

Well it is quite noticable in person...oh well. I went to the doctor today and she said that it is just dried blood and if I get it surgically removed it could cause a permanent scar. I am going to try to meet with a dermatologist, but they are hard to get appointments with. I am going to start tanning before the wedding also, so hopefully that will help mask it a bit.

tanning could also make it worse
