About 75 grams? I've been wondering about this for a while. What is the reccomended amount for the average person, NOT bodybuilder.

I don't think it should matter whether you're a bodybuilder or not. Americans are so unhealthy...

the RDA for protein / day is 50g if I remember correctly.

Even if they get 50/75 gr. per day,it's not quality protein.
Wheat protein can't build muscles as milk or beef protein can.

The current RDA for protein is .8 g/kg of bodyweight. Its recomended that typical americans move to a ratio of 15%, 55%, and 30% of protein, carbs and fat respectively.

Thta means 191 over 2.2 is...... that means I should get 70 a day....hahaha!

I guess I eat 500-600% of the RDA for protein / day.
And I also take in about 7500% of the RDA for Vitamin C.
Slap me on the wrist. :p
the average american eats about 100-130 grams a protein a day.
This is more than the average RDA.
with the average kcal intake of about 3,500 a day. Americans are in the top five eaters of the world.
This is more than the RDA but america is full of fat people.
though this does not include most american who use this site as you trian so your body can handle this level without getting fat.
They are rough approxiamamtion and the standard deviation will be a big % of the mean.

On all the labels of food and drink they base values on a 2,000 calorie diet. The average american consumes like 4000 calories per day.

The average American also gets very little physical activity, so their diet AND lack of exercise contributes to their obesity.
I esp love the ones who lurk in their cars near the front of the grocery store circling until they get a parking spot right near the door...God forbid that they have to walk a couple of extra steps :rolleyes:

4,000 cals/day? WTF?!?!
I'm trying to gain weight with 3,000cals.

Of course you have to remember most of us (bodybuilders) avoid empty calories while the average american does not. Let's say the average office stiff, probably has about 2 cans of coke per day. That is 300 calories or more. A snack cake or two per day, add about 500 more cals, it adds up so quick. Plus, think about all the greasy fast food, most of these calories they are getting are coming from an over abundance of fat and carbs. When we get 2500 a day or what have you, we are getting clean food, not crap.

True, a whopper with cheese has around 1000 calories. Plus another 500-700 from the BIG fries and BIG coke. Adds up quickly.
