Cutting bodyweight X 10 or 12

I am cutting, my body weight is 20% ... I have read that I should eat calories totaling my weight X 10 but also I have seen X 12.
what you all do

Start at BW x 12. If you haven't lost any weight after 2 or 3 weeks, then lower the cals a bit more, say BW x 11, and so forth.
