I thinking about making my own blend from proteinfactory. What are some good percents for a good blend? I'm sure geoff can help me out as I know he orders his from there. Also, they have a "Bovine" blend thats like $40.00/lb. is this stuff even worth the price over other proteins. By the way I wrote up a possibility of a blend with these percents and powders:
Dextrose:50%
Malto:15%
CFM Whey Isolate:15%
Egg White:10%
Micellar Casein:10%

Not sure if the Malto is needed or if thats a good mixture. The price comes out to about $4.50/lb before shipping. I was thinking like 10lbs. Should last about 3-4 months. Currently I've just been drinking 24oz. gatorade and then when thats gone I drink 40 grams of whey in water. I know a good carb-pro blend post workout would be more beneficial. Any ideas, thoughts, or comments? Thanks guys and gals.

depending on your serving size that amount would only last me 1 month.
typically 1 40-50g serving of a protein + 40-50g carb = 1 cup
3 cups is generally a pound
so 10 pounds is 30 servings give or take...
when compared gram/dollar with other companies this price works out to be equal although it might look a little daunting at first. Thats because most other companies recommend a dose of <30g protein per serving to give the allusion of more for less

rather than go 50% dex and 15% malto I'd knock it down to 25% and 25% if your looking to bulk and 10-20% for each if your on a cut.

CFM is just another type of filtered whey. If your on a cut I don't see much benefit in spending to much money on it vs regular whey.
and since you have the luxury of using any % you want with proteinfactory then I might go something like 10%micella casein, 10% egg white, 10% cfm, 10% hydro 520, 10% WPC (whey protein concentrate) (to make up 50%)
Also you should know that you can add aminogen, creatine, glutamine and a few other supps directly to the powder if you so choose.
Anyway, good luck. and know that their product comes in big garbage bags, so you'll need a container to put it all into unless you want to scoop out of the bag!

Thanks Geoff, I appreciate it. Currently I'm on a bulk, as in big as I can get. I just didn't think that much protein was necessary as I take in easily 160 grams on days that I dont workout, about 200 when I do, but keep in mind I'm only 140lbs right now. I workout four times a week, and the purpose of this would be after my workouts as I said. Lately I've been taking Designer Whey. I've gotten two, 2lb tubs for like $17 each. It tastes alright and blends pretty good. But even at that price which I think is cheap for that brand, that's still $8.50/lb, and a blend would obviously be much better. I don't really want to add glutamine or creatine as personally I haven't seen results from either. Would the aminogen be something good to add though? Also, I'm not fond of the "fake taste" of most sweetners, which one would you suggest that perhaps taste the most like sugar and the least like ass? Thanks for you help.

hahah, dont ask me about sweetners, I don't add any to mine, and no flavoring either (they are seperate things by the way)

and yes, my shakes do taste horrible....I take it as a pavolovian typa thing...after a workout I have this heinous shake...who knows, maybe I can trick my mind into doing a mental workout *LOL* I don't know!

anyway, the peeps at protein factory would be your best bed for advice on shake composition for someone in your position. Tell them your height/weight/age and how fast you want to gain muscle and what % of fat your willing to put on to do this.
They usually email me back with questions within a day or two.

I never take the aminogen myself, I just haven't had a chance to read up on it yet....

Sounds good, I'll probably email them and see what they say. I might order a small amount first to see what I think before I order like 10+lbs. Thanks for all your help Geoff.
