View Full Version : Whats the best weight gainer shake?
Something that taste nice preferrably - looking for around 1000 cals with lots of carbs like 250g and maybe 60g protein? Maybe a little creatine too?

On paper, MHP UP Your Mass looks decent.

A weight gainer shake consists of whatever calorie-dense ingredients you can stomach tossed into a blender and mixed to a mostly-consumable semi-liquid.

You can make a super weightgainer by taking a store bought weightgainer like NLarge2, mixing in whole milk, natural peanut butter, olive/flax oil and oats. Grind it all up and you'll have a shake that's at least 1000cals for a moderately sized serving. If you use vanilla flavor weightgainer, the peanut butter will mask the flavor of everything and it won't even taste bad

what about adding a whole egg to the mix? i know raw egg yolk is bad for your health but will it kill you?

Nonsense. Raw egg yolks are fine.

NLarge is pretty popular as far as weight gainers go.

I agree with Ryuage, just make your own...or pick a protein blend/powder you like and that is cheap and ramp up the servings per day and total serving size and make sure you take some fat with it as fat slow the digestive process
weight gainers are a myth...they really don't add anything to the forumlas...they just double or triple or quadruple the serving size, some will toss in vitamins and minerals and possibly some token amount of creatine or glutamine just so they can add it to the label.
They can't add much fat because powdered fat doesn't have a long shelf life (from what I understand) yet fat is an integral part of gaining weight...so spoon it in or get your formula custom made (in which case there is no shelf life so the fat powders are ok)
They load you up with WPC and micro percentages of other proteins (be weary of anyone that uses the term 'proprietary blend' yet claims a bunch of other quality proteins in their ingredients list...its probably 99.99% WPC and they are trying to pull the wool over your eyes)
And the carbs are just your typical dextrose possibly maltodextrin.

Here is what you should do:
1) Take advantage of the Opticen/Creatine 500 combo from AtLarge Nutrition.
2) Use the following shake from this article:http://www.atlargenutrition.com/shakingitup.php
The Skinny Bastard Shake
If you suffer from the dreaded “skinny bastard syndrome”, you know, where your metabolism is that of a humming bird in heat and you just can’t seem to gain weight no matter how much you eat, this is the shake recipe for you! You can consume a lot more calories in liquid form than you can eat, making this shake the ideal weight gainer for someone like you. Take off that hardgainer’s shirt you have been wearing and enter the world of the big boys! This shake packs high calories and the taste is first-rate!
1 serving of vanilla Opticen
2 cups of milk
3 tablespoons of whipping cream
2 scoops of vanilla ice cream
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
1 large banana
2 tablespoons of flax oil
Rev-up the blender first, then add the milk and Opticen. Continue by keeping the blending humming and add the additional ingredients, one by one, until the mixture turns creamy. Enjoy!
3) Read the following article and follow the plan it sets forth:
