Hi everyone ,
I was attending a local Bench/Deadlift meet yesterday , unfortunately I could not compete because I did not register on time , I wanted to compete very bad though.
When the Deadlift was over the winner had done 570 .The bar was left there resting on the floor , I approached it ,cold, dressed in my casual clothes , chalked my hands and did the lift …..Everybody was looking ……
It is so nice to be strong…….

just asking.... why is ur right hand taped up?

Looks like its his wrist. I have seen lots of people tape up their wrists - probably to keep them stable.

Good job with the DL man!

liftin cold seems like an invitation to a strained/torn muscle

I wouldn't do it, no matter how much I wanted to compete... pointless risk IMHO

Wow, that's not smart at all. No matter what your max is going at that weight cold is just asking for an injury.

Not to mention it's probably taken as insulting for you to do that at a comp you aren't even in.

Ok , a little clarification:
My right wrist bandage is something that I have on the last 3 days , a minor injury from shot putting .
I know that the photo is horrible but it is the only one I have ( my friend is not too good at taking pictures ).
I am aware of the danger of lifting weights cold but …. the enthusiasm was so high that I could not help it .
Enthusiasm is the fire that keeps me going when it comes to power .If it is gone I am finished.....

Just curious, have you competed in strongmen contest before and how did you placed?? I have thought about myself though that really isn't one of my goals.

Good luck in future events.

I like strongman contests very much and I compete there whenever I can .Here is a pic of me doing the loading race ( 6 sacks@150 pounds each ,over a 15 meter course , in slightly less than a minute ain't too bad )

I urge you to try it and do not be too dissapointed if you don't do well the first time .Just go for it ! :shoot:

Looks like 655 to me, counting the end plates as 2 10s and 2 5s. Something's fishy...

Are you guys serious ?The man says it's 570 so it must be 570 .He did not load the bar ,he just lifted it .I took one look at his "loading " picture , and yes, I see someone who is capable of 570 and more .

So you're saying whatever he says is true, even though it is obvious from the picture that that bar does not weigh 570 pounds? Interesting...

You see, there are two kind of people in the world today
We have, the playaz, and we have, the playa haters........

No, you have that slightly wrong. There are people who can't count. And there are people who can. You, for example, can't count. This wannabe 570 deadlifter can't count. The people who ralized so swiftly that the bar is holding 655 and not 570, CAN count.

It's hard to say how much is on the bar. There are 45lbs plates with huge lips, bars that weigh 100lbs, everything could be in kilos ... just too many variables to determine based on that picture.

Either way, let's not attack each other with personal insults.

Saturday Fever

Even if they were all 45s, the bar would only total 480. And in that case if the bar weighed 100, it would be 535. And if those plates ARE 100s and the bar weighed 100, he'd be lifting 710. No matter how you slice it, that bar is not 570.

LOL reminds of the other day when the owner of my gym was just walking around in his normal clothes not training and he sees these 2 big dudes doing high speed incline bench with 90 lbs dumbbells and he picks them up lies down and does 10 fast reps, then walks on. I think he was lucky too.

I remember some years ago ,MILO magazine ran a cover story on Gary Taylor (wsm1993) and some people were very skeptical about some of the poundages reported .A pair of very famous supers burned up the phono line between California and Minnesota agreeing that the claimed lifts were a bunch of ..... you know.

Let me tell you something about this 570 pounds .570 pounds or 260 kilos is a weight that some individuals around the world can Clean &jerk .That means OVERHEAD .
So I don’t see why it is so difficult for some people to believe that I just dead lifted it .
Give me a break guys .I have been lifting weights for all my life , if I can’t Deadlift what others can put overhead what the hec am I doing in this strength game anyway?

No one is doubting you can deadlift 570 pounds. There are folks here deadlifting more.

I think they want an explanation of which plates on the bar are what.

If I posted a picture of myself bench pressing with what looked to be 135 pounds and said it was 307.5 pounds, people would want to know what the hell those plates weighed.

Im doubting. Anyone can take a pic off the net and say its them. There appears to be more than 570lbs on that bar and you really can't tell if its even the same guy in both pictures.

Since you obviously have a digital camera why dont you post a pic of yourself holding a piece of paper with something like "Hercmet@Wannabebig.com" written in big bold letters. Im sure everyone that called you out would apologize.

I agree it doesn't look like 570 ... just try to keep the personal insults in General Chat. ;)
