Ok, I'm trying this writing thing down.
Not really sure what's supposed to go here, but if you read it let me know what I'm missing.

Today at the gym i felt like i was doing everything wrong, I suppose if i had a trainer who'd tell me if i'm doing things right will help.
Shane: I'm still working on your routine, but the wednsday doesn't make sense (again), so we'll need to talk about it later.
I go to the gym 5-6 days a week, cardio every other day
Workout:
Lunges 12/3, crunches 20/3
Lat pull down machine 12/3
Overhead dumbell presses 12/3 (I know you said 15, but i couldn't quite make it)
Dumbell curls 12/3
sit-ups 15/2
roman chair 2/20, back extension 2/20

Correction on the food intake (this is what I have most of the day with slight variation, but pretty much its chinese food everyday)
1) Black tea
2) tuna, egg, vegies sandwhich (separate or all in one), milk tea
3) rice with vegies or meat ( don't care for meat so I will have to cut that down to 2x a week, for some reason meat tastes kinda gross and way over filling) juice
4)Noodles or more rice, vegies if i can find any, green tea
5) black tea, fruit

And by Shane's suggestion, I'm adding back actaul food eaten:
4/14/04 Food:
1) 1/2 a scone and cup of black tea
2) Cereal w/ milk, water
3) Beef curry rice (meat is gross it makes me feel way too full, remind me to eat it no more than 2x a week) and diet coke
4) ham & egg bagel sandwich, milk tea
5) black tea, fresh guava

kinda looks like a lot of carbs, doesn't it? I'm going to miss taiwan's tuna sandwhiches, American sandwiches don't tast as good.

I take it you do a full body split? How many days a week?

That doesn't look like "a lot" of food to me...

If you put your current split and daily diet (not just what you ate yesterday) unless it's the same everyday, you'll get more responses.

Oh, and good luck.

:spam: Holy cow. You started a journal! Amazing.

It looks like you left part of the routine out?

That is quite a bit of carbs. I agree with Justin, you need more food. I didn't realize you ate THAT little. And more protein too. Pfft.

Anyway, I'm glad you started a journal. :)

Alright, this whole buffet thing is gross, way too much food. But i guess it goes along with the whole, "you need more food" theme ;)
Food:
1)Tea, 1/2 scone, cup yougurt
2) Buffet for 1.5 hrs-mostly seafood and no carbs (yey!), but grossly full nontheless
3) Shaved Ice with strawberries ( 1cup)
I still feel gross from lunch, that was way too much food. Remind me never to go to a buffet again.
4) small cup yogurt

Exercise:
Cardio day
35min on the elliptical machine
cunches 50 each side, 50 forward
reverse crunches 50
sit-ups 20x2

Stomach felt much better after working out, but i still feel so full, even ice was too much food.

Sleep: 7

So today (4/16) I didn't go to the gym :(
After class I was so tired that I just crashed for about 4 hrs. I guess I'll have to make it up tomorrow
Food:
1)Miso soup, seaweed packet, tea, yogurt
2) tuna dang bing(tina, egg, pancake-chinese food),milk tea
3)small bowl of rice, with small peices of salt baked chicken, some veiges, one yam, 2 small mantou
4) tea, 2 cookies

Sleep; 8hrs
not a very productive day, I don't know why i'm so tired, i get enough sleep. I'm just going to blame it on the weather

Shane
04-16-2004, 12:31 PM
You're probably tired cuz you didn't work out today. :p And you need to eat more. Eating 4 small emals a day and not getting protein at each one just isnt going to cut it...

It's pretty sad when I'm giving diet advice. lol

twcolabear
04-17-2004, 04:18 AM
So, today was pretty good, went to a pool spa, marinated in some jacuzzi's, did 3 laps doggy paddle in the pool. I know I'm sad, I can't swim.
Gym went really good, minus the depressing chinese songs that in the course of 1.5 hrs I've heard 4 times!
Workout:
Lunges 12x3, crunches 20x3 30 sec rest in between
flat dumbbell bench press 12x3(4kg)
dumbbell rows12x3, dumbbell bench press 12x3, rest in between
overhead dumbbell press 12x3, lat pulldown machine 12x3 (37.5lb)
dumbbell curl 12x3, dumbbel overhead extensions 12
sit-up 20x2
roman chair 20x2, back extension 20x2

Food:
1) tuna and egg sandwich, orange juice
2) orange juice, cookie
3) ramen noodles (restaurant, not packaged), ice tea

its only 6pm, I think there will be more food added to the list later

twcolabear
04-18-2004, 07:19 AM
So last night i had chips and pepsi, not good. Oh well its been a while, and it tasted good :)
Workout sweat is good, sweat caused by outside hot air is not so good.

Workout:
Lunges 12x3 crunches 20x3
the elliptical machine 30 minutes

Food:
1) Tea, cookie
2) Leng mien(cold noodels with cucumbers-yum! and all from 7-Eleven)
3) Tea, slice of bread
4) Burger with fries (I think Chili's here is more expensive than in US, and I miss In 'n Out)
5) Tea, guava fruit

Sleep;7
I'm so sick of looking for food every day. I really can't wait to return home, so that I won't have to go out for breakfast, lunch and dinner. That's why I eat so much carbs, there is nothing but noodles and rice around here. I want a salad. ok done complaning :D
I think my diet might have something to do with my lack of energy.

Shane
04-18-2004, 01:27 PM

Almost hurt myself again. I forgot to wear wrist bands, so after doing some curls, I started feeling a slight pain in my left wrist and forearm. I hope it doesn't get worse, last time it took over 2 weeks to feel completely better. I guess this will teach me never to foget to wear them.

I'm so pissed, my workout was crap!
I'll start from the begining. I went to my belly dance class, and that was great: lots of sweat, new moves, improvement on old moves. So when i was done I decided to go to the gym, since i was already warmed up and missed a workout yesterday. That's where things go downhill.
The vending machine was out of water bottles, so i get a box of getorade like drink. the guy at the enterance tells me that box is not allowed inside, and i must throw it out. Fine, rules are rules, so I finish the drink and go inside. the gym is packed, almost every machine is in use by some one. I go to my corner where i do my lunges and crunches, and on 2of 4 mats some guys are just lounging and talking, then another guy comes up and takes up another 2 mats to do his crunches. ( there is no need to take up 2 mats to do crunches :swear: ) so i'm waiting around, and finally get a mat to do crunches.
Afterwards I go over to the free weights, and what do you know?, all the weights i use are gone. by the way, it just seems silly when boys use 10lb and 4 kg weights. anyways some guy is using the 10lb Dbs and another uses 5lbDbs. I look around i don't see my 4kg Dbs anywhere. so I leave and go use the roman chair, i figured since all the weights are taken i might as well do something else. Everytime i look over to the weights section, all the weights i need are gone, so i do chest press machine to pass the time. I understand its a busy day, so i'm not too mad about that. what makes it worse is this. I go back to free weights section again, and notice the 4kg weights in far corner. no one seems to be using them so i head over to see if i can get them. once i got there this white guy comes over, so i ask him if he's using them. he says he is, and i know he isn't bc i just saw him use everything else but that for the last 30 minutes i was there. so i said "really? you are using these?" he said yes and laughs, so i walk away. and go do the lat pull down machine to get my frustration out, and keeping an eye on this guy, he hasn't touched the weights i need. So after being completly frstrated at an attempted workout, i figure i better leave before i kick someone. then in the hallway i see the same white guy and he says "hey, what's up?" :swear:
Alright my rant is done, I'm completely pissed off.

Workout (if you can call it that):
Belly dance for an hour ( only good thing about the whole day)
lunges 12x3
Crunches 100 front, 50 each side, 20 reverse
Roman chair 20x2
back extensions 20x2
chest press machine 12x2 @25, 12x1 @37.5
Latpull down machine 12x3 @50

Food:
1)tuna &egg sandwhich, milk tea
2) fruit
3) tomato pork, some rice
4) tea and 3 see's
5) guava

I wonder where i can buy protein supplements(like shakes or something) in Taiwan

JustinF
05-11-2004, 07:29 AM
Good to see you still got a session in. Can't help ya on the protein...I'm sure they must have a supplement store somewhere, no? If not you could always just adjust your diet to include more protein-rich selections.

The shoulder crunching.....can you hear it or just feel it. Only thing I can think is maybe cartilage damage. What kind of pain does it cause?

twcolabear
05-11-2004, 07:56 AM
I don't think i can hear, but then again the music is so loud that you can't hear much. There is really no pain, just discomfort.

Did you used to play any sports? I have the same thing with my right shoulder. Any time I raise it above 90 degrees it pops and snaps. As you said, not really painful...but uncomfortable.

i did tae kwon do for a while, and I've been doing horseback riding for about 10 years, but other than that i'm not a very sporty person

JustinF
05-11-2004, 08:14 AM
I wouldn't worry about it then, if it causes no unbearable pain. If the problems persist it wouldn't be a bad idea to go get it checked out.

No problem. Just as a side note..do you take anything for your joints? I have heard nothing but great things about glucosamine, however it did nothing for me. Might want to give that a shot.

Justin Sushi Express is not bad, but there is a really good place in San Francisco that makes the best rolls ever. If you are ever in SF let me know I'll tell you where to go
Today the gym was packed so I didn't do my regualr order, just had to take advantage of what was available, so i didn't do any dumbbell bench presses because by the time the bench was available my writs began to hurt, so i figured i better not push it, I dont want to end up not being able to do any weights for 2 weeks again. twcolabear
06-15-2004, 09:28 AM
thanks Justin , and i got sort of some protein, I had peanuts!

today i went to the post office to mail another box home. 10kg box by water cost me about $40US and it won't even get to US for another 3 month! oh well, better than have to carry it on my back. Then I sat around most of the day, until I finally decided to get off my ass and pack my gifts, so now I have my large suitcase stuffed with gifts, and only a small suitcase for my clothes, and I KNOW my clothes will not fit. I realized at 9pm that I still needed to get to the gym, so by the time I got there I only had 40 minutes, so I didn't do my whole routine. I was the last person to leave
Workout:
Treadmill 40min (alt speed 5,8, elevation1)

Food: Force fed myself all day
1) butter ramen noodles, tea
2) 1/2cup chips, 1400ml of orange juice
3) tapioca milk tea (1/2 cup)
4) McD fish fille sandwhich meal (half of everything), red bean over shaved ice (1/3 of plate) I was barely able to eat even that. And right now i really want to go throw it all up , but i won't

I must be very stressed out, even though i don't really feel like it, but my body is giving me all the signs. My hands are going numb, I don't want to eat, and I can't fall asleep. It happened to me before last fall, but then it was really bad, I didn't eat for a few weeks, my weight was down to 106lb. 6/16
Workout:
No Gym-belly dancing 1.5hrs

Food:
1) tuna & egg sandwhich, tea
2)15peanuts, dried papaya (3 sticks), tea
3)buffet- I didn't eat much, because of my dance class right afterwards

I was kind of mad about the whole dinner situation, my classmate is leaving and it was her going away dinner, so i didn't mind going, but she didn't tell me that it was a buffet, which creats a problem, of limited time since i had belly dance class right afterwards, and that it was 800nt! So i ended up eating some sashimi, and some chicken and seafood, I tried to stay away form fried food, but had a peice of fried durian. Oh and my problem of not eating is still here, so I'm still making myself eat

:( It'll get better when ya get back home. ;)

Looks like you made good choices at the buffet though, some good protein there! :)

Thanks Justin, on a side note, working out/dancing sucks on a full stomach
I've been very busy, and so I havn't been to the gym in a few day, but on a plus side I am eating a little. I'm going to leave the journal alone until I start working out again, hopefully it won't be for more than a week

I'm back! did you miss me? just kidding
Well I joined a gym, and i actually paid money, so now there is no excuse not to go.
Workout felt crappy though, I don't really know why, but I'm guessing because I didn't get to do weights since I didn't have my wrist bands. So I did 40min Eliptical
Food:
Too much of it, I lost track of what i eat, maybe I should get on a scale? ....no , bad idea.

Print your routine out to take with you to the gym (that's what I did). It's impossible to remember it all lol.

25min stairmaster
also met with a trainer for body evaluation thing, and all i can say is she sucks, good thing I didn't have to pay for the 30 minute talk we had. I don't think she would be very useful to me if i ever decided to pay for trainer sessions, she wasn't very motivational and in her opinion i shouldn't be doing any weights, just cardio. But on the plus side I now know my body fat %.

Hey Justin I'm lagging on working out and updating my journal
Shorty- if your friend is still interested you can give her my e-mail
Shane- is that a promise?
Dissipate- oooh spam, yum!

well I found my journal hanging out on page 3, so I figured i better update it.
last week I went to the gym 3 times, did either eliptical or bike, about 40 minutes. and of course bellydancing on wedsdays

today(monday)
I bought myself a stability ball and was playing with that at home, trying out difference excercises from a mag.
At the gym -50min bike.
I'm getting fatter! and the reason is simple, I eat more and excersise less :( I gotta start doing something at home, I don't always have time to go to the gym now. I'm going to be ambitious and try for some sort of workout 5x this week, so we'll see how that goes.
good night

P.S. there was no weights last week because i hurt my wrist again, but it feels much better this week, so yey for the weight room :)

twcolabear
08-12-2004, 12:35 AM
well I'm doing something, not much, but its better than nothing.
yesterday(tuesday)
I actually got on a real bike :omg: I think it must have been at least 5 years. rode it around for 3 miles in my neighborhood and the little hills were killers. I was in pain, but it felt sooooo good. Gym's stationary bikes don't even come close :)

Today
Bellydance 1hr
this teacher really likes yoga, so it was more like 30min yoga, 30min bellydance

I think i had too much coffee today, i'm a little on a jittery side

JustinF

twcolabear
08-13-2004, 01:04 AM

Db bench press 10x3 (20lb)
tricep extension 6x3 (20lb)
Db row 10x3 (15lb)
