I have heard alot of guys who use gear say when there on a cycle they hardly ever get a cold..flu..or any kind of illness like they might normally? Does gear boost your immune system? Is there any clinical fact to back this or is it a BB myth? I know they say certin anabolics like Dbol and test givce the user an overall feeling of wellbeing but thats a phycological thing isnt it? :study:

I know that the use of anabolics stimulates the Central Nervous System. That might be what you are refering to.

yeah..I was mainly trying to ask..does gear super boost your immune system the way it speeds recovery and amplifiers protein intake...I figured out the " feeling of well being" meant you just feel really good about all the weight your lifting and the size your putting on is like an ego booster in a way ..

I was pondering this question. I haven't actually looked at the literature, but this makes sense with what is known about how anabolics work and what lifting does to the immune system. Heavy lifting will tax the immune system. A localized inflammatory response and increased macrophage activity occurs to clear up the damaged tissue. A speeding up of recovery would decrease the effects heavy lifting has on the immune system.

my understanding is that it actually hurts your immune system.

I've been on a few different steroid based sinus meds and they all had warnings about how they lowered your immune system.

In fact I got a scrape on my ankle and got a HUGE crazy infection once while I was on a sinus spray...it was nuts...

granted the stuff u guys take might be a bit different...

A buddy of mine has been using gear on and off for a few years now and can't remember the last time he was sick. He doesn't eat very clean but he works out all the time and is probably one of the healthiest people i know (at least appearance wise). He looks great, never gets sick, never seems in a bad mood. Pretty cool for him but who knows if those things are related to gear.

I'm on my first cycle of d-bol and test and yes i feel great, but some times i find myself snaping at my wife and a little moody from time to time.
One thing i have found is that i had injureys before i started in my shoulder and neck area and half way into my cycle all that cleared up. i also take deca in my cycle and i havn't got a cold yet. but i think when your on a cycle your more awhere about what you eat and get more rest etc etc and there fore more healthy, i am anyway i want to get the most out of my gear .

That's a different steroid...a corticosteroid I believe. While structurally similar (shares the sterol ring) the effects are different.

Deca can mask certain injuries, so although you may feel great you probably shouldn't push it too hard on those areas where you had injuries. Just my $.02.

I think this could be really the key to this thread. The fact the when you're on a cycle you're nutrition is on point, you're getting tons of rest, etc. must help your body's natural defences. Plus your recovery time is better. It's all good. :)

I was reading a couple of articles after checking PubMed that suggest the opposite occurs. According to the articles the affects of anabolic steroids on the thymus affected the immune response. I'll post the links later.
