I have been mixing my creatine with grape juice and I am sick of drinking the high levels of sugar and carbs that comes with it. Anyone know if gatorade and creatine mixes well? Also, what are the best flavors of gatorade?

gatorade uses a different sugar as in grape juice; fructose-sucrose vs dextrose. fructose adn sucrose have very little effect on insulin levels, and doesn't really help creatine absorption
and yea, the high amt of dextrose sugar u need is nasty, but ur tryign to trigger a high insulin spike anyways. i'd recommend buying pure dextrose powder, cuz grape juice is very dilute, so u'd have to drink a LOT of grape juice (like 3-4 glasses) to get the amt of sugar u need

Ya i use powerade powder wit my creatine because its mainly made up of dextrose, and i usually take it before/during my workout, i can't really find any homebrew places near here to get some dex so it looks like i may be on powerade mix or pay a lot of shipping for a 50 lb. bag of dex...

o, in that case, gatorade mixes well, i used it before. anything with water should dissolve creatine ("monohydrate"= one water molecule to break it down)

Don't use Gatorade to mix creatine with. Gatorade contains citric acid. That would be like mixing creatine with orange juice... citric acid renders the creatine useless. The reason for using grape juice (apple juice is a good second) is exactly the type of sugar it has, and no citric acid. For an added bonus, mix protein powder in the grape (or apple) juice with the creatine post workout. The insulin spike from the juice will help get the protein into the muscles.

the citric acid is bad for creatine? your stomach has 6M hydrochloric acid! and btw, citric acid is a VERY WEAK acid.

I understand what you're saying. It was always my understanding that creatine should not be mixed with anything acidic. But I just found something that claims that is a myth. The idea is to use something with a high sugar content.
So, I stand corrected.
