View Full Version : Good way to get fiber.

I tried a few ways to get my fiber intake up because I realize most foods only have about 2-3 grams of fiber in them.
I have read about 25-30 grams of fiber is good for you.
I now figured out a good way to get lots of fiber, I first piked up one of those cerials that have 13grams of fiber per 1/3cup. You will find them at super market. Since it taste like crap to me anyway I put one third cup in a coffee ginder and it grinds it into a fine powder then i just add it to one of my daily protein shakes which usually consists of whey, skim milk, peanut butter, strawberries, and now this fiber! can not even taste it!

hey Gonzo, you'll probably find a cheaper and better balanced (soluable/insoluable) fiber at a pharmacy.
Just get one that doesn't contain any laxatives nor maltodextrin.
Pure psyllium husk isn't to hard to come by and comes in powder form already so u could skip the grinding step, plus I'm sure that cereal has all kindsa other things in it that you might not care for.

I'll quote the cost/brand serving size's etc from my bottle at home tonight.

I just pop some metamucil if I feel I need more fiber.

I think metamucil contains more than just fiber...I think it has maltodextrin and mild laxatives
