View Full Version : rasins or dried prunes for post workout?

I was just wondering if these two items are great for post workout since they both are a form of simple carbs and are pretty high on the glycemic index.

your body still has to digest them...so once they are digested in 3-6 hours I'm sure they would be great for boosting your insulin levels...in the mean time all ur powdered proteins will probably have already come and gone through your system...

for the fastest response something like a hydrolyzed carb would be best...for the slowest something like the prunes you suggested.
The question is how long does it take for proteins to be taken up in the small intestine...and for that its anyones guess...
which is why hydrolyzed carbs aren't necessarily ideal...unless you want to dose your system with them in the way you might want to with creatine (taking dex 20, 40, and 60 minutes later so ur insulin spikes when the creatine is getting into your system, if u take it at the same time ur insulin spikes...then 30 minutes later the creatine gets digested and u've misfired ur fuels...)
