View Full Version : Are juice smoothies good for a "post workout meal"?

There's a Jamba Juice(juices/smoothies) on my way home from the gym.

Are these things good to drink after a workout? With a protein shake too.

They also have powders you can have added, like fiber, multi-vitamins, protein(soy i think).

I notice there's a lot of carbs from the fruits, so i just thought it's the same as eating fruits after working out.

the carbs from the fruit are not ideal. You need dextrose or maltodextrin postworkout, with maybe a little bit of fructose.

some dex in grapejuice...

you can get dextrose at any homebrew/wine store and online

it's easy to add to grapejuice or gatorade powder

personally I buy dex in bulk and use a flavoured maltodextrin product by Interactive called glycocarb

I believe sweets like Smarties (in the US) are basically dextrose.
