My goal is to bench 315 pounds.

2 years ago I weighed 210 and my max bench was 305. I wanted nothing more than to bench 315. Consequently, I hit the proverbial wall and quit lifting, until now.

Today I am 6 ft 195 lbs of pure squishiness. I am incredibly soft and weak. My max bench now is 185 x 2.

I will be consuming between 3000 to 4000 calories per day. Supplements include 1 multivitamin and 400mg SAMe per day. Training days are Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

man i went through some of your old journals. There actually pretty funny. As abstract as they were you made some nice ass strength gains. Didnt you used to want to deadlift 400 also?

Sounds like one of my half-hearted pipe dreams. For right now, I'm putting all my effort into benching and will take it a little slower this time.

I looked forward to working out all day and when I got home from work and started the first set I wanted to quit and go lay down on the couch. I had no energy at all. I'm amazed I actually lifted anything. I am eating more and gaining a little weight but I still feel weak. Even the thought of doing a couple sets of curls with just the bar made me cringe.

I tend to bench only once and a while for the same reason
I get deep pain in both shoulders,

and flat bench flies

It's funny, we were in the same boat (strength wise), except I lifted 305 5 years ago. I have no got up to 315 in about 6/8 months of serious lifting (6 months of serious eating/protein).

315 is now my wall, but I supposed if I keep working I will eventually get there. I am now aiming for 315 x 10 reps. I think I will be happy at that mark.

deadlift
135 x 10
135 x 10
135 x 10
135 x 7

95 x 10
95 x 10
95 x 10
95 x 10

yates rows
95 x 10

upright rows
45 x 5

I was having full-body shakes whilst performing the yates rows. It was enjoyable. Needless to say, I was totally spent at that point.

I think the lack of sufficient protein is my biggest downfall
I need to work on that

but I'm still having fun :)

My right wrist is messed up, I think it's carpal tunnel syndrome. Over the last week it has gotten much worse. Every lifting exercise causes pain. It's actually kind of depressing. I'm hoping it should be better in a week or so. Until it does, I won't be lifting.

I just read an article about Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. According to the article there are 4 exercises to avoid. I introduced 2 of them to my "routine" last week; upright rows and close grip bench presses.

ACUTE COMPARTMENT PAIN: BODYBUILDER’S WORST ENEMY! Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (http://www.planetmuscle.com/articles/3_3/carpal_tunnel.html)

Nice lifting man, you'll be at 315 in no time.. I hope that wrist doesnt screw up your lifts and that it recovers quickly.

I can't even hold up 135 right now. 315 seems like a billion miles away.
