Is 45 minutes on a 14% incine at a speed of 3.8 5x a week good enough for cardio? I tried to fit into my slacks from last year (32)inch waist and it was about to cut off all blood to the lower portion of my body. I cant believe i gained 40 pounds in 1 year of college.

Also, another question. Approximately how long would it take, given a decent diet/training regiment, to lose 30 pounds. I dont ever think i have lost weight the normal way, as 2 summers ago i lost 80 lbs in 2 months on an extreme low calorie diet and 2 hours of running cardio a day. Any help would be appreciated .

that's lots of cardio. Focus on getting your diet straight.
30 pounds will take about 4 months or so, depending.

Are you walking the entire time? 3.8 sounds too slow to run. More intensity over a shorter period of time would be better IMO.

yea im walking the entire time... fast walk.. i dont want to run on an empty stomach because i am under the impression it will burn mroe muscle mass. I was told moderate intensity is good on an empty stomach

I would recommend, performing all cardio on an empty stomach and then wait between 45 to 60 minutes after finishing cardio before consuming your first meal.
The bottom line for weight loss is your diet.
I would try for a weight loss of no more than 4 pounds per month.
