Ok, I cheated this for sure! Lol, I also got kind of excited when I finished as you will see.

I got excited because I wasn't sure if I could do it. You see, I had done the following first:

5 sets of hang cleans followed by presses
2 sets of weighted chins with body + 45 lbs x 10 reps (curl grip)
1 set of standing calf raises
2 sets of reasonably light squats

I know I could get the weight if fresh, but I had never tried it at the end of my workout.

Anyway, here it is:

Yes, I was happy! I surprised myself. I will get a fresher video (I am more fresh in the video, thus able to lift more) with 235 or so sometime soon.

Chris your scary. I know people may do more, but that chins +45 for ten is impressive also. 8 for bw is about all I can get.

The form wasn't as bad as I though it was going to be after I read your post.

Nice work.

I don't really understand the point of doing a one rep max.

Well, in this case it was just to do it and for show.

Otherwise, singles can be used to build both size and strength.

Yes, maybe on a third set, but as a one set one rep max, there are benefits?

Well, first, I did a single with 185 and 205 prior to that. Second, a heavy single will definitely stress the body sufficiently to get a response. I don't recommend people train using one 1 set of singles. I'm not sure what you are getting at here?

now that would be low volume

I'm just asking in general, if there's a benefit to simply do a one set one rep max, because I always thought there was none.

I think it was to show what kind of strength he has which imo is pretty damn impressive.

Yup.

Like I said, I'm just wondering in general. The obvious reason for doing a one rep max is to test brute strength.

All a one rep max means is that you can lift a certain amount of weight at that particular time in moment. Nothing more.

What I figured.

thanks.
